RE: Liverpool FC - Fernandez Esperenda - 12-02-2013 19:31

Im not suggesting we sack brendan, i don't want him to be sacked, i just wish he would mix things up somewhat, stop being stubborn and spend the money his is given more wisely than he has, we need strength and some experience, not more youngsters, i hope in the summer he brings in experienced established players...

(12-02-2013 18:29 )Fernandez Esperenda Wrote:  Im not basing my comment on just last nights game, i have seen every game this season also, last night we did have 23 shots at goal but amongst that was also some very very sloppy errors and needless mistakes, the fact we still havent beaten a team in the top half of the table says it all, i agree we have played some great football this season but more often than not we completely mess it up with stupid ridiculous errors, we can't defend corners, we haven't got any strength in midfield apart from gerrard and get bullied off the ball, it's obvious, oldham bullied us, stoke, villa, any team with a bit of strength we have no answer, the money that rodgers has paid for borini and allen is not justified, i fail to see what they offer, borini looks out of his depth and allen looks like a little kid with no self belief, me and you could do what allen does, swansea look a far far better team without him, they spend a fraction of what we have and bought in michu, pablo hernandez, both for less than we paid for allen and both offer a lot lot more, then the 10 million on borini..... Our squad just isn't good enough.... Under rodgers we take 1 step forwards 2 steps back, im not expecting miracles from him, I'm just starting to realise he's not a "tactical genious" after all, martinez did all the work for him at swansea before he took over, before that all he has done is get sacked from 2 championship clubs. Many times this season his tactics have been wrong, he plays players out of positions far to often and leaves players on the bench who are natural to that position, wrong formations ect, i just can't see him taking us any further... If he does fair enough, i just don't see it.

You've pointed out a few things that nobody can disagree with.

Being bullied by Stoke, the giant at Oldham, Benteke. It was clear for all to see. I've said all season we need more backbone in the side, somebody who'll put the foot in and drive us forward alongside Stevie. The £10.5m spent on Borini looks crazy. Agreed. The lad's been injured but I've seen nothing from him anytime he's played other than him stoking us up in the Kop against the mancs.

I don't agree with your assessment of Rodgers. Martinez laid a foundation Swansea that was taken on by Paulo Sousa and then Brendan who took it to a completely different level and led them to the Premier League and an 11th place finish in their debut season. Martinez on a similar budget to Swansea at Wigan has finished 16th, 16th and 15th. That should tell you how good a job Brendan done down there.

Brendan's never claimed to be a tactical or any other kind of genius. He's a young manager working his arse off 12-15 hours a day trying to get us playing well and winning football matches. There's nobody trying harder than him to get us back challenging again.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and views mate but the doubters need to realise that it's a work in progress and that Rodgers was brought in to mold the club from the academy up and to get every team representing Liverpool, at every age group, right through to the first team being coached and taught to play football the way he sees fit.

I don't have a crystal ball but i say give the man time and you'll see a brave, bright, creative, exciting Liverpool side in the coming years.

I'd like to see the fans who are saying rodgers should be sacked and ask them "who is out there that we can replace him with?" Because there's no 'High Profile' manager available. You never know, Rodgers could turn out to be the next Bob Paisley, just give it time.

RE: Liverpool FC - Fernandez Esperenda - 12-02-2013 22:59

I repeat I don't want him sacked, I can see what he's trying to do, and I know it will take some time to do it, I just think he's trying to do things too quickly, making too many changes for no reason, and the little money he is being given is not being spent it the right places, we didn't need allen at all, he offers nothing charlie Adam or spearing didn't offer. atleast charlie Adam had a pass in him and spearing was up for a fight, 15 million on Allen is shocking, The 10 million on Borini is a total waste aswell, Andy Carroll produced more and I'm not a fan of his either, that money could have been used to far better effect than what it has been, I wan't him to do well, I just don't see how he sees some things.... would you rather have Borini and Allen or David Villa and Khedira ?

RE: Liverpool FC - groundnpound - 12-02-2013 23:20

He'll have learned a lot this season Rodgers. Felt for a while that he doesn't fancy a few in the squad, i said to a mate last night that he might do a bit of a clear out in the summer.

I can see him selling Reina, Enrique, Skrtel, Coates, Downing, Assaidi and even though he likes the lad, Borini.

He's said we'd be looking a lot better financially this summer, so add the value of those 6 or 7 to whatever he'll have to spend and it could be a bit of a war chest.

Who we'll bring in... That's a different ball game.

RE: Liverpool FC - Fernandez Esperenda - 13-02-2013 01:40

But then if he clears out again and brings in more new faces its back to square one again, another season the same as this but if he does clear out Assaidi, Borini, Allen, Reina, possibly Downing can all go, along with Carroll, then id like to see him bring in players who have experience for example, valdez, Hamsik, Villa, maybe kaka, hulk, Nani, Khedira, Cavani... Players like that would be good for us, i wouldnt want skertl to go though...

RE: Liverpool FC - groundnpound - 13-02-2013 02:37

We won't be back to square one mate. Selling the players he doesn't think are good enough is only gonna help. He's laying the foundations, i'd imagine he'll be bringing players in who'll suit the style and settle quickly.

Remember he's working to FSG's template on these transfers. They want the best young players around at Liverpool, value for money players, players they can sell on for a decent amount if it doesn't work out. Some of the players you've mentioned would be great but a few of them are getting on a bit. There's no way we'll be shelling out the wages they'd want for a few years service.

Whilst FSG are around, the oldest players we'll sign will be around 25/26 for me. They might say no probs to bring in the odd 28-30 Year old. Who knows?

If it was me, I'd keep Reina. We don't want another Alonso type scenario. I'd search the globe for a new centre back. A solid defender, good in the air, can play out and pass the ball well. Then i'd get Martin Kelly in and around the centre half picture. I'd bring in the best left back I could find, again he has to be technically sound and a solid defender with a good brain and quick. Then I'd tell Fenway I wanted one player over 30 to add some composure and craft to my midfield and that man would be Xabi Alonso, back for an emotional reunion! Tongue My next signing would be a striker and it would probably be Soldado from Valencia, always liked him. He's 27 but he's a world class goalscorer who'd add good experience.

RE: Liverpool FC - Fernandez Esperenda - 13-02-2013 21:31

Alvaro Perreira from inter is a great left back would suit our game perfect, he was at porto and is a regular for uruguay

RE: Liverpool FC - alwayswanking - 13-02-2013 21:36

we should sign Darren Bent, a proven goalscorer,he's always in those 'poacher' areas in the box. For some reason Villa dont like him, and if villa get relegated (which they will) then Bent will be on the cheap

RE: Liverpool FC - Fernandez Esperenda - 13-02-2013 21:39

I'd rather not... not for me
