This is what Herr Von Der Leyen doesn't seem to understand. Vaccine production is an international effort and we could fuck things up for them in a big way if we choose to. It would however be a very stupid thing to do and so far the UK Government has been unusually diplomatic over the whole thing.

Better to let them carry on shooting themselves in the foot.....Until they run out of feet and start shooting themselves in the face.

Today is the First anniversary of the first national lockdown - a day reflection. Hearing that message from Boris that day I don't think any of us then knew what was to follow. Looking back now going into work that day I didn't think we would be open for very much longer and when we did have to close, it was four days of sheer hard work and I think even now we are still playing catch up when we consider how much retail has changed from that moment.

Now 12 months later I think the lockdowns we have been through since then have had their individual impacts and the situation in Europe possibly could swamp this country at some point and I think this could be the wave that may do the greatest damage if we are not careful despite the vaccination rollout.

I we do get hit by the wave that is around in Europe I fear that it could provide with the greatest challenges of this pandemic yet, but depending how severe it gets I hope we can avoid the scale of lockdown that we had 12 months ago, but I hope and pray the wave is not as severe as we dare to hope and the lifting of restrictions can be pursued. However, we have to accept that even if this virus becomes treatable the effects of it in 2020 will be felt for a very long time to come.

Germany were going to have a 5 day lockdown over Easter to stop the increase in transmission of the virus.

But the state leaders criticed the decision so much that Angela Merkel has had to cancel it. She says the planned lockdown was just a mistake. Or did the state leaders tell her to do one. bladewave

See EU shot themselves in the foot again

Claimed they had found 29 million doses on the AZ vaccine in italy plant claimed it for the UK and put an export ban on it turns out was for Mexico , Canada and the COVAX program so thereby taking vaccine from poorer countrys

Absolutely fucking clueless. I know our lot have fucked up badly in many ways in the last year but this is now bordering on being a hostile act by a foreign power. It's as clear as day that they've got it in for the UK and will do absolutely anything they can to stop us getting hold of vaccines.

It's a very dangerous game for a German Politician (VdL) to attempt to blame others for their own failures.

^in other words trying to blame or punish anyone else for their own mistakes but themselves just glad we got out.

Seems India is at it as well, banning export of some AZ vaccines made locally so they can use it themselves.
Apparently some of this vaccine was destined for Brazil, so no biggie, not like they are in any real trouble with covid!
