^ I should actually have against the Kook in my post!!RolleyesBlush

An easy win for Surrey in the match I watched! Kent weren't really at the races at all. No knocks of note in either innings!

Yorkshire would appear to be in a comfortable position at the close of day two! Derbyshire have had a really poor - well two days really - and have given away what would have been a nip and tuck position, with well below standard showing in the field. They have shelled upwards of 7 to 8 chances so far in the Yorkshire innings. On the opposite side of the equation, huge kudos to Brook and J Root (with a bat and not a golf clubeekWink ). Brook in particular, merciless against anything remotely off - and by small margins! This year may be spent with Derbyshire seeking to avoid being the wooden spoon recipients by the looks of things. Mickey Arthur with a lot of work to do after the promise of last term!

^^ Other than the new ball, Headingley is a flat pitch, early season with little pace & bounce, one of the best batting tracks in the country, unless you get certain overhead conditions. Derbyshire had more pace in their attack but as you've said, spilled a few. Yorkshire in the shape of Bean took 2 great sharp chances, a good effort for a keeper at 3rd slip. Guest & Madsen have compiled a Root & Brook like partnership, only much slower. Yorkshire have done all they can to drive the game, scoring at 4.5, but have already lost a full session on day one & Sunday looks like a washout.

Already called off for the day at Headingley, same at Grace Road.

Play now underway at Bristol & Kidderminster. I wonder if Worcestershire have moved this fixture to it's out-ground due to the usual New Road flooding or if it was already planned to be played away from the main ground.

All but one match ending in draws for the present round of matches.
All a bit deflating with the weather stifling things a fair bit this season Sad.

At least Snooks the increase in draw points (maybe doesn't go far enough yet?? and should never have been tampered with) alleviates the impact of falling behind more than in the last season or so. I would still like tie points to maybe go to 10 for a rain impacted draw that saw both teams unable to influence anything - reasonable opportunity to at least pick up bonus points?? - if perhaps 75% + 0f the match effectively unplayed??

Worcestershire left arm spin bowler Josh Baker has passed away at the tender age of 20. He played 2 championship matches this season. What a tragic loss. Sincerest condolences to family, friends and of course his county colleagues. R.I.P.

Oh my god, that is a tragedy! Anybody know how?? So unfair, especially as he had already played two matches this term in what is still the beginning of the season, presumably with no sign of any issue?? This kind of thing just makes me wonder??
