Would Jones have to put up weight or could he make Lesnar drop down to light heavy?

Good question... I guess jones may have to put up weight as brock fought in heavyweight division or they could both agree on a catch weight fight

I think jone probably gain an extra 40 pounds in still be too quick for :Lesnar if it was at catch weight I reckon that limit would have to be set at around around 215-235 lbs but it would be a bigger pay per view that probably could even dwarf Mayweather Vs McGregor!!

Yep, wwe need to do more of these cross over things... u have cyborg calling out Becky lynch for summer slam although I struggle to see what she would do.

The WWE guys should take on the challenge and come over to the UFC. Then when mania or any big WWE show comes about, UFC repays the favour and have their guys do some entertaining angles/skits

Where would you set the limit for a catch weight Jones - Lesnar fight?

RE: UFC - shano123 - 30-07-2017 20:35

Looking at brock his at 280?? I don't think brock will wanna drop weight, he will prob say jones has to fight at heavyweight

Catch weight is handy but if brock is just fighting the once, ain't worth cutting weight

I would agree I would say Jones def would have to bulk up to around 240 if he is going to give Lesnar any kind of fight problem I would think Jones would probably find carrying extra weight might hinder movement

The Heavyweight limit in UFC is between 206lb -265lb limit so Jones would only technically need to put on a lb or 2 over the 205 lb Light-Heavyweight limit to qualify as a Heavyweight.Essentially though it would come down to what weight Jones walks around in naturally & looking at Jones frame even though he is 6 ft 4 I would guess he walks around at 230 lb & so he probably wouldn't need to bulk up & if he did he would probably compromise on his speed & stamina.
As Jones has proven in previous fights he has got stamina to burn & could do 5 x 5 min rounds whereas Lesnar has a tendency to blow in round 2 -3 (because of his bulk) & so he would probably look for a 5 round fight & try to catch Lesnar out of steam.
Weight-wise Lesnar's weight in WWE is around 290-295 lb which I'd say is more his natural weight so he does have to boil down quite hard to make 265 lb limit & so should the fight happenI would expect Jones to give away 30-40 lb on fight day.
I always thought UFC should have a Super Heavyweight where any fighter can weigh over 265 lb (Joe Rogan has also mentioned it a few times) where Lesnar would probably be more comfortable at.

Jones did look sensational in beating Cormier at the weekend even though he hasn't fought in 2 years & so he probably thinks that because Cormier (who is an Olympic Bronze Medalist in wrestling) couldn't take him down Lesnar (who is still a decorated national state wrestler in his early days) wouldn't be able to.Whilst Cormier did initially campaign in UFC at Heavyweight he always admitted he was too small for Heavyweight compared to the opposition like Lesnar & did drop down to Light-Heavy.
Its funny how Lesnar is still the big money draw in the Heavyweights despite being banned & maybe it was Jones intention to dip his toe in the Heavyweights & see who bites back.Frances Ngannau the #5 ranked Heavyweight (one of the best up & coming fighters) would be a sensational fight for Jones (should Lesnar not take it) providing Ngannou beats Junior Dos Santos at UFC 215 in September.

What would probably make it an interesting fight for me if it came down to the ground and pound game I would say it's about even but I think jones has the better ground game than Lesnar,
I would say if it was the at the top limit jones probably would feel comfortable at 240 so that he doesn't sacrifice that speed and stamina plus I think he could bust Lesnar open quite early
I would still say hand on heart it could still be a dangerous fight for Jones to take on but I would definitely side with Jones winning by wearing Lesnar down before the end of round 3

I like the idea of a super heavy weight division I think it would be Lesnar would be more comfortable but at the same time often the ring magazine puts up a title for certain catchweight boxing bouts, so is there a chance a catchweight tile could go on the line for this one?
