RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 26-11-2017 00:12 Michael Bisping suffered a brutal one-punch ko in the first round by 8th ranked middleweight Kevin Gastellum in Shanghai this weekend just 3 weeks after his loss to Geaorges St-Pierre.With that being 2 losses on the bounce & UFC having a policy of 3 straight losses at you're dropped by UFC Bisping's next fight win or lose will probably be his last anyway. His swansong fight will probably be on these shores (UK) early next year when UFC returns to the UK. RE: UFC - lovebabes56 - 26-11-2017 03:33 That's a real shame gutted for him. RE: UFC - Unscarreduk - 03-12-2017 11:53 Holy shit. If you haven't seen the Overeem knock out yet find it. Francis N nearly took his head off..... RE: UFC - terence - 03-12-2017 12:00 ^actual footage: RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 03-12-2017 18:18 That uppercut Ngannou landed on Overeem would've knocked out an elephant let alone a decorated mma star in Overeem who has the well earned reputation of having the biggest glass jaw in all mma (check out his ko losses on his record on Youtube). Francis Ngannou is the fastest rising star in UFC that many of the top heavyweights have been avoiding & for Overeem to take the fight with such a brittle punch resistance was only going to go one way.Overeem was the No1 ranked heavyweight going into the fight so Ngannou has definitely earned his title shot at Stipe Miocic. Some cracking fights on the UFC 218 card with Max Holloway's brutal dispatch of Jose Aldo in the 3rd round on their rematch but the best two fights of the night went to Max Holloway's teammate & fellow Hawaiian Yancy Medeiro's 3 round slug-fest with Alex 'Cowboy' Oliveira on the prelims & Ultimate Fighter team captains Eddie Alvarez & Justin Gaethje in their 3 round war with a brutal knee-to-the-head finish. RE: UFC - shano123 - 03-12-2017 18:26 Sky is the limit for ngannou, he will be champ in no time. When he does become champ, I think he should cross over to boxing. I feel this guy can run Joshua close! Aldo is finished now in my opinion. Great win by max. Come on Conor, defend or vacate your belt!! RE: UFC - lovebabes56 - 06-01-2018 10:17 ] I would say Dana (UFC President) has to force McGregor into a corner and tell him straight : - "defend the title o I'll strip it from you" I do think McGregor is showing himself to be the biggest cunt in sport atm I don't even remember the last time he fought in the Octagon!! RE: UFC - Bandwagon - 22-01-2018 09:41 A rather anti-climatic fight between Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou in the end. Ngannou reminds me of Bob "The Beast" Sapp from K1. A mountain of a man with tremendous knockout power, but extremely susceptible to fatigue with all the muscle mass and only ever good enough for one round. Avoid him like the plague for the first round and then it's pretty much like taking candy from a baby there after. Alistair Overeem should have known this, and therefore found himself with the wrong strategy completely when he faced him. You simply cannot stand toe-to-toe with a man of such power in the first round. I'm still not convinced about Daniel Cormier being much of a Champion, although he did prove he has got a little bit more of a stand up game then people give him credit for. RE: UFC - lovebabes56 - 22-01-2018 11:04 Ngannou lost? Miocic did a fantastic job of exposing the many unanswered questions & more importantly the vulnerabilities of Ngannou whilst he's a devastating puncher his conditioning (or lack of it) showed he is a one round fighter with virtually no wrestling ability.Ngannou loads up with every punch which in turn makes punches slower & depletes much needed stamina for someone like Ngannou. For someone Ngannou's size (he was over 20lbs/a stone & a half heavier than Miocic) he was taken down at will by Miocic but what was alarming is that whenever Ngannou was taken down he didn't know what to do about getting back up much like a tortoise on his back. The only slight disappointment I found with Miocic's performance was he could have probably submitted Ngannou on a few occassions by rear-naked choke when he was on Ngannou's back. Ngannou although raw could certainly come again but he needs a top-class conditioning & wrestling coach. Ngannou reminds me of Derrick 'The Black Beast' Lewis, the late Kimbo Slice & Mark Hunt (although his wrestling has improved) where being a one-trick-pony thus relying on punch power alone trying to ko everyone in a round only gets so far but then struggle against the more conditioned elite multi-faceted/trained (bjj, boxing, judo, wrestling etc) fighters. Miocic was pretty much written off in the build-up to the fight but he's harder than a coffin nail who has come through numerous gut-check fights in his career & looking through the Heavyweight rankings the only fighter I could see possibly beating him is a fully fit Cain Velazquez (who's had a horrible run of injuries recently). |
