RE: UFC - HEX!T - 08-04-2018 13:43

well a bit disappointed in how 1 dimensional rose looked. she still got the win. but rarely kicked joanna's legs, preferring to stand and strike.
joanna looked genuinely surprised she didnt win. but you gotta win decisively in a belt match and she didnt do that. in fact i was in agreement with the scoring.

as for the khabib fight. meh!. i knew it was gonna be a long night for any 1 they put in. and while theres no doubting al's heart, he wasnt even in the game after the first take down.
a very long night for him thats for sure.

RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 13-06-2018 23:29

The CM Punk vs Mike Jackson fight on UFC225 at the weekend was fooking awful & certainly didn't warrant a place on a main card.Neither fighter looked good enough to compete at the elite level of UFC & as for Punk whom has had a stellar career in the world of wrestling (wwe & the independent circuit) just couldn't make the transition to become any sort of credible MMA fighter (despite training for over 2 years & still looked knacked after the 1st round).Mike Jackson looked more like a pacifist than an MMA fighter when the numorous he mounted Punk & had opportunities to either finish him by stoppage or by submission he chose not to & instead trash-talk his opponent (which pissed of Dana White).Dana White in the post-match conference had pretty much confessed both fighters wont be competing in UFC anymore.Punk should bite the bullet & return to WWE.

The Punk/Jackson was put to shame by the great fight between Robert Whittaker & Joel Romero where both gave their despite both getting injured in the fight.

I'd like to comment here I never do.Ive been a UFC fan for along time. But not really anymore. It was just better years ago when a big card came round like every 8 weeks or longer.Used to sit and watch the whole card Sunday night. It used to be great. But now there's a card on every month.Overkill is the word.Ok there's more demand it's all about money I get that. But Wating for a big card many years ago was much better.Anyone else think this let me know.I still watch the big fights but that's it.Also how the fuck is that UFC reality show still going.I Wached about 6 Mabey more.Fucking way to much for me.

RE: UFC - Bandwagon - 14-06-2018 06:59

I really look forward to the UFC each and every time it's on.
I used to watch a lot of boxing but now I'm not so bothered and it's all about the UFC for me. I will still watch boxing when there's a really big fight on, but I much prefer the UFC. I just find it more 'edge-of-the-seat' in comparison.

When I was over on Sky Broadband I used to pay for BT Sport. My original interest stemmed mainly from the MotoGP, and as an added bonus the UFC was on there too which I was extremely happy about.
I now purchase my broadband from BT so the BT Sports channels are included, although I do pay that little extra for the HD upgrade which I think is well worth it.

But one thing I will say about the UFC and I largely agree with Jack the Nipper, is in regards to the CM Punk bullshit.
I really hope the UFC don't go off down any more silly avenues trying to attract an even bigger audience by using celebrity names regardless of the fact they can not fight. Even against this Mike Jackson pudding, CM could have seriously gotten hurt because it's quite clear he hasn't got a clue.

I believe they should concentrate on keeping the UFC raw and genuine because for most people (like myself) that is one of the UFC's largest attractions.
No gimmicks necessary.

RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 17-06-2018 20:14

For me the politics in boxing (different promoters, different belts in the same division) & the whole ppv bullshit where certain fighters seem to warrant an extra £20 on top of the Sky bill (but the rest of the undercard is garbage) is what makes me prefer UFC.Regarding the politics side of boxing where various different belts in the same division means that you could get four different world champions in the same weight division who can tend to avoid each other whereas in UFC a world champion cannot duck anyone without losing their belt as a consequence. Also I tend to find judges scoring in boxing generally pretty awful (where judges clearly tend to curry favour with certain promoters) & I remember in the early 90's when Nigel Benn fought in the US when in an interview he said about not leaving fights in the judges hands where he mentioned in certain (corrupt judge scoring) countries he'd have to knock some out just to get a draw on the scorecards.

For me I've always liked Dana White as UFC Boss as he is a genuine fan of the sport & he'll always tend to put fights on fans want to see.He also dangles the bonus fight carrots (fight of the night,KO of the night, submission of the night) to his fighters to incentivise them.

Like Bandwagon I prefer UFC to boxing nowadays & pretty much watch most Event Cards (I do check their website to see whose fighting on the card before deciding to watch them or not) but I guess the reasoning behind so many events is due to the combination of having a huge roster of fighters (& keeping everyone happy)& they do tend to like arranging events at pretty much every corner of the Earth.

One of the many reasons I like UFC is the multi-facetedness (I don't know if this word exists) of it where every combat sport can take on each other to find the best ie a boxer fighting a wrestler or a BJJ fighter can fight a judo expert etc.Watching a fighter execute an Anaconda Choke or a Guilloteine Choke can be as shocking/exciting as watch someone ko'd by a round-house kick or a left hook (the possibilities are endless).

Does anyone remember in the late nineties/early noughties when Sugar Ray Leonard & Sylvester Stallone were coaches on a boxing series called The Contender where up & coming boxers where trained in two different teams in an elimination tournament which I really liked.UFC picked up the ball on the idea & ran with it for the past decade or so with their excellent Contender series (where Michael Bisping was one of the first tournament winners).

RE: UFC - lovebabes56 - 17-06-2018 20:48

i remember The contender and I think the series is called The Ultimate Fighter and I think Bisping won series 3

I too like Dana White - he is very honest and a genuine fan of the sport. I really would like to see the introduction of two new weight classes as I feel there is need to have a new weight class between two weights, where, I'm not sure.

if the boxing powers that be had thrown their collective weight behind the contender I think there would have been many good young up and coming guys in the sport from their ranks.
