RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 04-11-2018 13:31 Daniel Cormier retained his Heavyweight title on UFC 230 in the early hours submitting Derrick 'The Black Beast' via a rear-naked choke in the 2nd round in what was a predominantly one-sided match.Two-time Olympic wrestler Cormier took Lewis (who was the much bigger man) down repeatedly with ease & only emphasizes that wrestling is one of the main fundamentals when fighting at the elite level. As Lewis has proved he has devastating one punch ko power but has next-to-no wrestling ability to prevent takedowns & when he is on his back he replicates a tortoise (he can't get back up). RE: UFC - shano123 - 09-12-2018 21:03 Hope u guys caught the max Holloway/Brian Ortega fight, absolutely stellar. Max is a beast!! Non ufc fans, i’d encourage you to watch, u won’t be disappointed! RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 30-12-2018 13:34 Despite a slightly luke-warm billing on the undercard of UFC 232 in the early hours this morning the 2 main-events fights top quality. In the first one Jon 'Bones' Jones showed very little ring-rust on his comeback fight after a hiatus via his second drug suspension by brutally ground & pounding Alexander Gustafsson to a stoppage in the 3rd round in their rematch & reclaiming the vacated UFC Light-Heavyweight Title. The second UFC title fight saw Amanda Nines not just rightfully claim the title as 'The Baddest Woman on the Planet' but also becoming a 2-belt UFC Champion by brutally knocking-out 'The Myth', 'The Legend' in Cris Cyborg who had never previously been ko'ed & had been unbeaten in the past 13 years. As soon as the bell rang for the 1st both opted to trade bombs at each other (it was never going the distance).Nunes dropped at rattled Cyborg several times before closing the show with a huge overhand right to Cyborg's temple in just 51 seconds of the 1st round, the rest as they was history. RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 20-01-2019 22:37 Another Champion vs Champion match took place in the early hours this morning & another 1st round blowout where Flyweight Champ (& Olympic Gold Medal wrestler) Henry Cejudo stopped Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw in just 32 seconds of the 1st round due to ground & pound.Dillashaw dropped 10lbs to make the Flyweight title match but losing that sort of weight when you are a fighter that already carries very little body-fat can have a detrimental affect on punch resistance & that was clearly evident in the 32 second blowout. Some say the fight was stopped a little prematurely but Dillashaw was dropped a few times when Cejudo mounted & started throwing punches where Dillashaw was in a predicament & position where he couldn't avoid them or hit back I thought the referee was right to stop it when he did. On the the undercard saw the two hottest female UFC stars go at it with Paige Van Zant stopping Rachel Ostovich in the 2nd round with an arm-bar submission.Ostovich went ahead with the fight & was given praise throughout despite being recently hospitalized in a domestic abuse case involving her husband. RE: UFC - lovebabes56 - 23-02-2019 10:03 UFC 235 next Saturday sees Jon "Bones" Jones back in the Octagon defending his title against Anthony Smith. I would heartily agree with those who feel that he should have never been allowed back inside the Octagon after testing positive, and I feel he's been lucky to be able to return. Also Tyron Woodley defends his title against Kamaru Usman who I think many expect to give Woodley problems, but I think Woodley could Ko him out by end of round 3. RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 24-02-2019 15:38 ^No disrespect to Anthony Smith who has earned his title shot on the back of 3 straight wins over Oezdemir, & the faded ex UFC champions Rashad Evans & Shogun Rua but I see this as more of a warm-up match for Jon Jones still finding his feet after his suspension.I'm certainly more intrigued with the Tyrone Woodley vs Kamaru Usman fight where Usman looked good in his last fight where he dominated the resurgent Rafael Dos Anjos over 5 rounds in his last fight. The only fly in Usman's ointment is that most of his fights go the distance coupled with the fact that Woodley doesn't really get the respect he deserves from the wider public for being the dominant champion he has been. There are some potentially pretty good fights on the undercard with the always entertaining Diego Sanchez vs Mickey Gall (the guy who tapped out CM Punk on his debut fight in UFC).And Cody Garbrandt on the comback trail after 2 title defeats to TJ Dillashaw fights Pedro Munhoz. RE: UFC - lovebabes56 - 24-02-2019 16:06 ^Is CM Punk likely to get a fight sometime again or did the UFC fire him? RE: UFC - The Goatman - 24-02-2019 16:15 (24-02-2019 16:06 )babelover48 Wrote: ^Is CM Punk likely to get a fight sometime again or did the UFC fire him? No cm punk is finished in the ufc he had no business being in there in the first place really... but hey they all got a nice payday out if it i guess RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 25-02-2019 01:43 (24-02-2019 16:06 )babelover48 Wrote: ^Is CM Punk likely to get a fight sometime again or did the UFC fire him? UFC usually have the policy of 3 straight defeats & your out CM Punk has lost his first two fights but in his last defeat to Mike Jackson (both lost their debut fights in UFC by submission to Mickey Gall).UFC boss Dana White called it one of the worst fights he'd ever seen & that neither fighter had a place in UFC & although Jackson dominated the fight & had several opportunities to stop Punk but strangely seemed reluctant to pull the trigger hence it went the distance which infuriated Dana.Punk is a good wrestler,a good trash talker but an MMA fighter he isn't. RE: UFC - Jack the Nipper - 04-03-2019 02:22 A few surprising results on UFC 235 in the early hours of Sunday morning in what was a pretty stacked card with former Bantamweight Champion & No 2 Ranked Cody Garbrandt getting stopped by in the 1st Round by ground & pound by No 9 Ranked Pedro Munhoz.Ultimate Fighter Season 1 winner Diego Sanchez stopped up & comer Mickey Gall in the 2nd round with ground & pound. Former Strikeforce & Bellator Champion Ben Askren in his much anticipated UFC debut submitted former Welterweight Champion & 6th Ranked Robbie Lawler with a Bulldog choke (which was stopped way too prematurely) in the 1st round despite Lawler dominating the opening throwing Askren to the ground with a Samoan Drop (a backdrop WWE move) then almost getting the stoppage himself with ground & pound.Kamaru Usman won the Welterweight strap in a dominant one-sided points victory over long reigning former champ Tyrone Woodley going the full 5 round distance.Jon Jones dominated Anthony Smith & retained his Light-Heavyweight title fight that went the full 5 round distance but & act of carelessness nearly lost Jones his title by DQ by inadvertantly kneeing Smith in the head whilst he was still grounded (an illegal move).Smith could have won the belt by DQ if he was unable to continue but chose to fight on instead (& lost). |
