Planning problems, NIMBY's holding planning process up with objections. Hoping roof in place on main court by 2020

Wawrinka has a lot in his tennis armoury for sure.
However IF ( and it's a big IF Wink ) ....... Murray can achieve consistent depth on his groundstrokes into both corners of the court to keep Wawrinka on the run or even the middle line of the court to reduce any angle it should help negate his opponent somewhat. This combined with strong serving would give the Scot a chance imo.

Easy to say. Not easy to do.
Wawrinka will no doubt be trying to negate Murray's strengths as well. This match is a searching examination for Murray.
Any weakness and Wawrinka will pounce on it.
Add the amount of sets and court time Murray has played so far already and the task becomes even harder.
But I would never ever write Murray off.
He has a chance for sure Wink.

A Worrying stat. Murray has not beaten anyone seeded higher than 7 in a major championship since he won Wimbledon in 2013. Two ways of looking at it I suppose. One that he is unlikely to progress or two, he wins this he goes all the way. I suppose a third alternative is that he is due a reversal in fortune.

Those stats don't look good, neither does the fact Murray has lost to Wawrinka on the two previous occasions theyhave played on clay.

RE: Andy Murray - setter1000 - 03-06-2016 10:08

To be fair to Murray the two times he lost on clay to Wawrinka were in 2008 and 2013. Murray has improved out of sight on clay since than.

RE: Andy Murray - Mellow - 03-06-2016 16:57

Murray has beaten defending champion Wawrinka 6-4 6-2 4-6 6-2

He will play Djokovic in the final.

RE: Andy Murray - SecretAgent - 03-06-2016 17:06

He's now only the 10th player in the history of the game to get through to the final of all 4 majors.

79 years since the last British man in the final at Roland Garros.
And what a mighty performance from Murray.
That was as good as I have seen him play in a good while.
Now for the ULTIMATE test Wink.
Hoping Rome gives him good vibes Wink.

One more Andy.
Just one more Shy.

That was a truly outstanding performance from Murray. He's at the peak of his career right now and what a brilliant record he's chalked up on the clay this year.

So now to the 34th meeting between Murray and Djokovic. We've talked about the record, the previous meetings in Grand Slams and in Grand Slam finals. Murray just needs to believe. Accomplish that and anything is possible.

Whatever happens I'm excited to see the numbers 1 and 2 in the world in the final, and this rivalry has felt like the rivalry to see in tennis today. There's been many great tennis rivalries over the years - Emerson-Laver, Borg-McEnroe, Becker-Edberg, Agassi-Sampras, Federer-Nadal. And Djokovic - Murray is the one to see in this day and age.

And it will be on deep enough in to the afternoon for the French crowd to see it. Plenty of time for lunch before the main course. Wink

I remember when Sue Barker told Roddick that he seemed to have a rivalry with Federer to which he replied 'for there to be a rivalry between us I would have to win a few of our matches' till last month Novak totally had the wood over him. My hope is that Novak has had it easy where as Murray has had a few very tough matches and is battle hardened. Can't get over how much the crowd seemed to want Murray to lose. Must think he is english or something.
