If this exit poll proves correct - or anywhere near it - Corbyn needs to fuck off at 9am tomorrow morning. He is clearly a man of principle... but he's also an unbending dinosaur (reasonable governance is founded in compromise) who couldn't get elected in this country in a month of Sundays. ^The '83 result was the start of the process that led to John Smith (a thoroughly decent man IMO) and later Tony Blair reshaping the Labour party.
If tonight's result is similar it MUST lead to a similar rebuilding programme with Corbyn, McDonnell, Abbott & co being banished to the backbenches where they belong.
Starmer, Thornberry & co have been very quiet recently. I suspect that will change in the next few hours.
