Great sentiments Camilla, and a good approach to life - just save it for something that matters...

CBB is a bit of fun, nothing more.

Has a Derbyshire person that's incredibly offensive. What's your accent then?

^^^ I rather like the Derby accent, I find it easy on the ear and friendly (unless they're crying and being passive aggressive Wink)

Mellover, please dont take this the wrong way but I can't help noticing that you are one of a number of people on this forum who use 'has' for 'as' and vice versa.

I'm interested in language and I just wondered whether it was a regional thing? I think it might be - I knew someone from Nottingham with a strong Notts accent and she did the same, in speech and in emails. I thought it was just her but having seen others do the same I think it's probably a dialect quirk.

Though the as/has is an error in writing we do tend to drop letters and sorten words.

I'm what might be called very broad and still speak with a semi Derbyshire drawl. I tend never to pronounce the H, so it's as, ave (have) appen (happen).

Other things off top of my head. Instead of saying been. I'll say bin, 'bin t'shop'.

There's also words that I used were elsewere people don't know what I mean. Swat (throw), 'Swat it here'. Mardy (sort of like somebody sulking) 'stop being so mardy'

There's then some unusual phrases, all but died out now but occasionally I find my self using them.

Cock o'midden, as in 'thinks he's cock o'midden = dog's bollocks.

Foul as a gate end pack = ugley.

I still find myself saying hark, 'hark at that', and thee and tha', ie, 'what's up with thee' or 'tha what?'

Pretty much young people don't talk like this anymore and most of the time I get it right, it happens when I forget myself.

But the dropping of the h's is pretty much a constant.

To Mellover

One of my friends is from Derby. He is lovely. When I need lipthingys on the walkabout and need a special type he goes to Tesco, buys them for me….like 10 of them ha ha and sends them to me wherever I am. We used to be housemates and he was great to live with.

I am so nervous now…..

How about manipulative, devious, self centred, egocentric with an air of gold digging around her.

I don't watch BB, I just took that from her infamous 'Rinsing' show and from the comments on the forum re BB. I think we'll continue to see her in the lads' mags for a while, until the next big thing appears and she is forgotten. She can only continue her rinsing for as long as she's popular, but that rarely lasts and then it's all over.

Understand that I don't wish failure upon her, but her current path is eventually going to take her there. I won't miss her!

Just saying Wink
