People know where the newspapers are displayed in my shop.
I get some people coming into the shop asking where the newspapers are and majority are wearing glasses and I show them where they are and leave them to it and they buy one. You can bloody guarantee they'll come in the next day and their first question to me is :
"Where are the newspapers?" and not only that give me a twenty quid note for it! (I'm usually out of change by mid morning) even get those buying just a pack of chewing gum using a twenty quid note! I wish people would think a bit more and use smaller amounts for things like that, knowing full well we might not have enough change.
I curse quietly "WTF? I showed you yesterday!" or "Can't you see anything out of those bloody glasses?"
It also amazes me how many people pull up or take off their glasses just to read the Chip & Pin machine!!
I also probably get the odd village idiot coming in from miles around & asking: -
"Have you got any baked beans???" or "Do you sell any nails?" or "Have you got any reading glasses?" (We used to sell them not any more)
Jeez we got supermarkets within 250 yards of us and a B&Q about half mile down the road yet they think we (WH Smith) sells anything they can think off, but don't look or can't be bloody arsed to look in the right shops for it. They must think we might be easiest place to get it. I'm tempted if they ask for baked beans again to bend over and ask them to look up my arse for them.
