If it was about Sporting achievement then Sarah Storey would have walked it.Sadly I don't think the thought process around that would have been as simple as that! Some would see (I stress some) Sarah's particular situation as meaning she wasn't/isn't a bona fide sporting athlete! Complete Bovine....etc etc.... of course, but I guarantee that would be a factor! RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Rake - 23-12-2023 14:44 Fits with the BBC mission to foist women's football on the public at every opportunity. In general in fact!! Not just the women!! RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Snooks - 17-12-2024 20:09 I find it quite ridiculous that Phil Taylor has yet to win Lifetime Achievement Award. It's not even as if Darts is not considered a proper sport given that Luke Littler is nominated to win the yearly award. It's just sporting snobbery of the highest order. RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Charlemagne - 17-12-2024 21:03 It's the first time in years that I've agreed with the winner of the award. Well done Keely Hodgkinson RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Kingsmind - 17-12-2024 21:16 (17-12-2024 21:03 )Charlemagne Wrote: It's the first time in years that I've agreed with the winner of the award. Still a female again but yeah a part from that Charle i do agree she was the deserving winner. It's probably the Indecent Assault conviction rather than snobbery. The major championships she had been challenged to win were the Olympic title and the European title. She won both and ran the fastest 800m time of the year to boot. Cannot do much better than that. RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year - lovebabes56 - 18-12-2024 11:23 I'm thinking what would be the chances of Tom Aspinall winning next year IF he was to beat Jon Jones? I think MMA is probably in the same position as darts, yet both get decent TV coverage and either really don't get a look in when it comes to awards or decent mentions. I mean when I look back to when Michael Bisping won Britain's first ever UFC World title, I don't think it was hardly ever mentioned in any Award programme that year!! RE: BBC Sports Personality of the Year - Kingsmind - 18-12-2024 14:47 Usyk deserves the Overseas Version Of The Event in my opinion and the last Boxer to do so was Holyfield back in 1996 , another Cruiserweight who became Undisputed Heavyweight Champion , very interesting. |
