I actually find most 'gore-fest' horror films laughable and cheesy (though this can sometimes be a good thing lol - namely 976-EVIL)
For 'horror' I go for more the old style 'psychological' films like the original The Haunting, The Innocents, Psycho. More recently The Devil's Backbone, Pan's Labyrinth etc
But I also liked 30 Days of Night - mainly for the lack of "awwwww, aint they sweet and misunderstood" type vampires and more the 'predatory white shark-esque' vampires, as they should be
Though I do admit to liking Bram Stokers Dracula and Interview With The Vampire - but I was also still a kid really when I saw them
And The Lost Boys is 80's cheesefest at its best
