RE: best and worse cover versions - m100 - 27-02-2009 18:51 I've been consistently amazed at what the remaining members have been allowed to do with the queen name and music. Wonder if Freddie's estate has any say in any of it? Thought I was the only person in Britain who can't stand Girls Aloud. Funnily enough I feel the exact same way, only in reverse. I quite like some of Girls Aloud's stuff, but the Spice Girls make me want to go out and kick puppy dogs... Different stroke for different folks, eh? m100 Wrote:I've been consistently amazed at what the remaining members have been allowed to do with the queen name and music. Wonder if Freddie's estate has any say in any of it? From what I understand, the whole band own the name Queen and the music is owned by the record company, so no consultation is required, even from the surviving members On a side note, I think that of the songs written by Freddie all of the royalties go to aids charities, so the executors of the will just look at potential revenue for the benficiaries, there are very few shit covers of the stuff written by any of the other three... RE: best and worse cover versions - A Spider Monkey - 27-02-2009 21:54 One of the best covers for me is Man Who Sold the World by Nirvana. Tried to find it on youtube but all the videos I found had embedding disabled. Run by Leona Lewis is not bad. Worst cover songs, Hallelujah by that bint of the X-Factor, Sweet Child O'Mine by Cheryl Crow was a fucking travesty as well All Saints Under the Bridge. For some funny covers check out a guy called Richard Cheese. Here's his cover of Rape Me originally by Nirvana. Moreso when you watchbthe video knowing it was filmed so close to the death of his wife as well as his own. Also, I have to say leona lewis' version of run is really good, best cover of the last coupla years.
