If there had been no interaction between the two parties as suggested, or zero interest on Blatter's/FIFA's part surely the answer would have been "It's none of our business, it's a decision for UEFA" or better yet, just a simple "no comment?" What you found merely emphasises my point. By saying "we agree with UEFA'S decision to now let Liverpool take part" by simple definition that means (obviously) that FIFA DIDN'T agree with UEFA's original decision to not allow them in. Seems perfectly plain to me..... RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - emperornxviii - 24-03-2010 10:54 I'll have a go at a summary. m100 claims that Sepp Blatter ordered UEFA to fix the champions league draw so that Arsenal and Man Utd were drawn against each other. Other members did not believe this claim, but colino offered support saying that Blatter sticks his nose into everything and so interference from Blatter was quite plausible. Colino says that Blatter ordering UEFA to allow Liverpool into the champions league is an example of this behaviour and that this interference from Blatter was reported in the media (although so far nobody has found any media reports that say this). In the meantime the champions league draw has been made and Arsenal and Man Utd were not drawn together in the quarter finals and can't meet in the semi-finals either. m100 still believes that Blatter ordered the draw to be fixed and says that UEFA didn't carry out Blatter's orders because the "draw machine" was broken. RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - colino - 24-03-2010 11:04 That's pretty accurate.......I'm not sure about Blatter's "draw machine" though And "ordered UEFA to allow Liverpool in" is probably a bit strong, "gently coerced" might have been a better way of putting it RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - m100 - 24-03-2010 17:39 (19-03-2010 13:30 )m100 Wrote: Blatter's draw machine must have broken - we could, though it's unlikely, get an all english final in both competitions. Which would be a win-win situation, a couple of trophies plus the shock would kill him. The original comment was a sarcastic one made in the 'who'll win the champions league' thread and subsequently moved (not by me or at my request) to create a thread. It was based on three things a) the number of times in recent years that chelsea, liverpool, arsenal and man utd have been drawn against each other in the latter stages of the champions league b) the number of times those four have also been drawn against rangers or celtic in the initial group stages c) the number of times in recent world cup and european championship qualifying draws that the 'home' nations england, scotland, wales and northern ireland and, although they don't belong in the 'home' category the republic of ireland, have been drawn to play each other. Alternatively maybe it was working ok as the only country guaranteed a semi-finalist is France. RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - aldershot1993 - 25-03-2010 13:16 On the subject of Blatter, is anyone going to stand against him for FIFA President and if so what are the chances of winning? RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - jimbo5030 - 25-03-2010 14:05 No, there aren't anymore candidates, again. The only person who is remotely interested is his little puppet platini but he won't do it until blatter doesn't want to know anymore. I hate alex ferguson but I wish he had retired when he originally said he would because then perhaps he could have been persuaded to work in some high role like that in fifa. We need some british representation to help stop all the conspiracy talk. He is so well respected throughout the world and I don't think there is a man on the planet with a better knowledge of football. Blatter is a wanker and I'm sick of seeing his wrinkly old face dribbling in interviews acting like he knows what's best for world football. The silly old bastard can barely speak as It is. What is he now? Like 105? RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - colino - 25-03-2010 15:45 Platini's just announced that he WILL stand for re-election as president of UEFA next year. What's worse is that the election's taking place in bloody Paris, so he's a shoo-in. Looks like we're gonna have to put up with these two arseholes till one of 'em drops dead RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - jonny wyatt - 25-03-2010 16:06 how can people say a english final ,all the top clubs ARE RUN BY NOT BY ENGLISH .ALL THE PLAYERS ARE NOT ENGLISH SORRY BUT THATS TRUTH , I AM FOOTBALL FAN .WHEN I STARTED TO WATCH FOOTY , MY TEAM HAD ALL UK PLAYERS PLAYERS AND OWNED BY UK ITS SO SAD ,ITS ALL ABOUT MONEY JUST MONEY ALL THE PLAYERS WHO PLAY FOR ENGLAND DO NOT CARE ABOUT ENGLAND MATCHS JUST THERE 125,000 A WEEK . DOES IT MATTER WHO WINS THE CHAMPIONS LEAUGE THATS A JOKE AS WELL , the champions leauge should be for just for the champions one else as it use to be open for just the winners of europe leauges in the 1970s and 1980s . do you agree with this , i love footy and all the classic matchs , but it was so beater in good old days . i love the special one ,he should be the england boss RE: FIFA / UEFA Conspiracies - jimbo5030 - 25-03-2010 16:54 I don't really agree with you at all. The England team are benefitting from champions league football and because we have four English clubs in there every year we have more English players given their chance in the biggest club competition in the world. Although I believe that having so many teams in the champions league has affected the uefa cup/europa league in a very negative way, I think that as a whole international football and premiership football has benefitted hugely. As for no English players, between the top four clubs we have most of the England team playing in the champions league which will only help them more when it comes to playing in front of huge crowds against tough international teams. If we did win the world cup which I'm unconvinced we can do then we will owe the champions league a huge thank you. That's not true, the Asian Confederation have said that they will put up a candidate. |
