Well there's no break in his foot so looks like he should be fit for the WC *phew*, and maybe as soon as the cup final on Saturday

Love him or hate him (the more likely option), this is great news for England fans

"Chelsea Football Club can confirm today's scan on John Terry's foot showed no breaks. He took a knock in training earlier today and went to hospital for a precautionary scan on his right foot." (Chelsea official website)

Have to say that Capello's selection is puzzling, especially when he stated that only players in form and playing regularly will be selected in the squad.

Shaun Wright Phillips, Aaron Lennon and Ledley King have not been playing regularly. Jamie Carragher, Matt Upson and Tom Huddlestone are a waste of time, and as for that donkey Emile Heskey.... ooh don't get me started... annoyedannoyedannoyedannoyed

Goodbye world cup..... its a cruel world (sniff, sniff) SadSadSadSadSad

re: Jamie Carragher

JAMIE CARRAGHER: NOT GETTING ANY YOUNGER

August 2008, extracts taken from Carra: My Autobiography:

• "I was never in love with playing for England in the first place."
• "Sitting on the England coach as it prepared to drive us away from the World Cup in Germany, I received a text message. 'Fcuk it! It's only England'. I'd just missed a penalty in the quarter-final shoot-out against Portugal. Representing your country is the ultimate honour, especially in the World Cup. Not to me."
• "I would rather miss for England than LFC."
• "I wasn't giving up my football career or my ambitions. Only England."
• "The Liver Bird mauled the Three Lions in the fight for my loyalties."
• "Whenever I returned home from disappointing England experiences, one unshakeable, overriding thought pushed itself to the forefront of my mind, no matter how much the rest of the nation mourned. 'At least it wasn't Liverpool,' I'd repeat to myself, over and over."

11 May 2010, upon being named in provisional World Cup squad:

• "I'm not getting any younger, we have no [Big Cup] football next season."

Precisely why that self-serving git should never be allowed to put on the 3 lions shirt in a professional capacity.

You should be saluting Carragher for being willing to answer his nation's call, even though he'd retired from international football. Given that the fitness of Ferdinand and King is suspect, Capello badly needed a full back who could also cover at centre back. Wes Brown would have done the job but he's only just returned from injury and hasn't played for 2 months, so who else was there? Gary Neville could have been taken as a right back, but he couldn't cover for centre back.

Do I like Carragher? Nope, not even a little bit. Do I think he's a self serving tit, who doesn't deserve the honour of wearing an England shirt ever again? Abso-fucking-lutely. Do I think England need at least one defender in the squad who can play all across the back four, so that Fabio can take an extra midfielder for what it looks like is shaping up to be a five man midfield? Yep. Once the WC is over, Carragher can slope off back to Liverpool, while England start the task of rebuilding an ageing back four in preparation for the Euros in 2012. So long as he warms the bench effectively and doesn't fuck up if he gets on the pitch, then I'm willing to tolerate his presence for the sake of one tournament... So long as we progress past the quarter finals, anyway. If we don't, then I'm blaming him for ruining team spirit. Wink
