RE: Haye v Wladimir Klitschko its on - El Zorro - 30-06-2011 23:46 I cant wait to see Klitschko KO Haye out! I really hate that arrogant bastard!!! RE: Haye v Wladimir Klitschko its on - whizzer - 01-07-2011 10:33 I don't understand boxing that well, but Haye seems to want to wind Klitschko up as much as possible, which doesn't strike me as a great idea. Surely it just gives the opponent more reasons to beat him? Surely it just gives the opponent more reasons to beat him? I think the idea of winding the opponent up and making him "hate" you is to cause him to fight with emotion rather than with his head. Another reason is that as well as winning, Haye wants to make as much money as possible from the fight, and at the moment, his winding up of Klitschko seems to have given the fight a far greater profile, and has probably led to a greater number of TV companies choosing to broadcast it, than otherwise would have. According to this BBC blog, Klitschko's trainer Steward "had to admit that, if it were not for Haye's motor mouth, the fight might not have happened". And Klitschko's American sparring partner, Michael Hunter has said "But I guess it's good for boxing, it gets people to watch. The Americans might even be watching this one - and that's all from him opening his mouth." RE: Haye v Wladimir Klitschko its on - whothat - 01-07-2011 16:01 Haye KO in 4th. Haye's fights always bring up an interesting battle between patriotism and comedy... Obviously you wanna see a Brit hold as many World titles as possible, but at the same time, it would be fucking hilarious to see Haye get KO'd like a bitch RE: Haye v Wladimir Klitschko its on - cosmonaut - 02-07-2011 07:55 (01-07-2011 10:58 )skateguy Wrote: I think the idea of winding the opponent up and making him "hate" you is to cause him to fight with emotion rather than with his head. Good answer skateguy. Haye is definitely trying to piss Wlad off and make him be more aggressive in the fight. That would be great for Haye because it gives him more chance, instead of Vlad keeping him at a distance with his jab for long periods. But will it work? No I don't think Wlad is going to come out with all guns blazing, but at least Haye's talking has built the fight up a great deal and given it publicity. RE: Haye v Wladimir Klitschko its on - Snooks - 02-07-2011 14:10 I think the trash talk is indeed intended to make Klitschko engage in a tear up. However I tend to worry also that should this not work then it may develop into a bit of a dour, tactical struggle decided by the judges scorecards. This being so and with Haye being the away fighter I am rather suspicious RE: Haye v Wladimir Klitschko its on - whizzer - 02-07-2011 14:43 (02-07-2011 14:10 )snookered147 Wrote: Haye being the away fighter That's another thing I don't understand about boxing. 2 of the judges are from the USA and the third is from South Africa, so how you can know which fighter is the home fighter and which one the away fighter? |
