And it will never change or improve so long as programmes like crap-factor and britains got idiots promote mediocrity as being special.
Why do we have to have all thi inflicted on us for interminable weeks when we all know the winner will be some average singer middle of the road with nothing edgy or controversial about them who will release a third rate cover of a second rate song for the christmas stocking market, follow that up with an album and the hopefully disappear.
As for Leona being a singing 'sensation' she has a decent voice but dreadful material. If she is considered a sensation what does that make really talented female singers like Sharon Den Adel,Simone Simons,Cristins Scabbia or Tarja Turonen if only they had the same access to the media available to x factors karaoke 'stars'

I do agree with you, as much as they say 'this is the best year ever' and we are looking for raw talent and someone different, someone with the x-factor, the same old type of winner is churned out - they release one song and that's it!

I just love it for the entertainment, picking the acts you love and hate and hoping your favourite does well! I don't take it as a serious music contest anymore!

RE: X Factor 2011 - bombshell - 21-08-2011 20:23

I agree it is just entertainment,i dont believe X Factor has any sway over the music industry, unfortunately the real musicians and singers are not what the masses want,80% of the charts could have the same backing track and you would'nt notice.

Just thought i would add that having watched on Saturday,i thought it was dire,i have no idea who the two girl judges are,and Gary Barlow at times seemed to be trying to hard.

As for the contestants cant say i saw any talent,to compare the guy with the tattooed arse with Rod Stewart was just ridiculous, and the little girl from Ireland was twee.

It can only get better,or maybe not.

Problem I have with this programme is that they put people who can't sing through to go in front of the judges and from knowing people who have been on X Factor you have to go through two/three auditions to get to go in front of the judges, so the producers know these people can't sing and are feeding the delusion of these people in order to make car crash tv.

Watched the first half of X Factor USA last night, only watched because on "Breakfast" they said it was much better than ours, well i thought it was dire,so far this year i have,nt seen or heard anyone with a modicum of talent, but i am one who thinks one good note will do rather than 20 (Mariah Carey style).

Billy Connolly was much better .Big Grin

Didn't expect to see Frankie in the bottom two as I think he is one of the favourites, I thought it may of been Kitty and Johnny? I don't think either performed as well as they could've done in the bottom two? and I think Gary changing the song at the last minute may have been a struggle for Frankie! Cool

Sad Pink Panther Kitty was the best thing on the show.
The singing from most of the acts was terrible.
At least Kitty's performance of Bjorks 'It's Oh So Quiet' single was entertaining.

Kitty to win. It would drive Gary Barlow daft.

I agree with you Kitty was one of the best acts on last night but I just had a feeling she may end up in the bottom two?, I'm glad she wasn't though, she's one of my favourites on X Factor this year Cool

I watched on Saturday,i thought the whole show was pretty dire,Frankie may look like a pop star but cant sing a note, the groups are as bland as ever,i still dont get the attraction of the little Irish girl,i thought her rendition of Coldplay was awful,at least Kitty put some oomph into her performance, other than that it was dead on its feet.HuhHuh
