Not according to the Office for National Statistics. The most recent figures published in November give incoming migration of 536,000 in the last 12 months and the number of people leaving the UK in the same period as 353,000, a net incoming figure of 183,000 in the year.

One notable point is that more people arrived in the UK from outside the EU - 296,000 - than from inside the EU - 240,000. The net figures are a net incoming figure of 185,000 from outside the EU and a net outgoing figure for inside the EU of 2,000 - so bytor's claim is true for the EU (242,000 out and 240,000 in) but his claim is not true for the world as a whole.

Every country in the world has immigration problems but if we are seperated from the rest of Europe it might be a bit tougher to get a visa.
I still believe that we should leave because we are quite clearly being shafted by the rest of Europe, but that is only my opinion.

The world economy is changing one where large populations such as India or China or large trading blocs like the EU will create wealth. We are an island of 60 million people we cannot afford to be out of Europe. It may not hurt us now but in 10 or 20 years we will struggle to export products countries need to these regions. Immigration is a touchy point but has anyone asked how many Britons live in the EU I believe its something like 2.0 million.

Aren't Norway & Switzerland out of the EU? and their exports are thriving by all accounts?

Thing is Norway and Switzerland aint the UK

I hate when people pull Norway and Switzerland out of their ass as an example. It is not a good one. They have populations between them totalling 13 million about the size of southeast England.

We have a large complex economy ranked between 6th or 7th by most of the authorities. World Bank, United Nations and IMF and a population of 63 million

46% of our GDP is derived within the region unless we can create a similar arrangement with the Commonwealth countries we have no way of replacing that lost opportunity which will hit jobs etc.
