RE: Smallville: Doomsday: Clark Kent vs Doomsday Preview - Shandy - 13-05-2009 22:36 here's alison mack saying that the rule was tom wellings doing, not al & miles, the producers. http://www.mania.com/superman-celebration-part-3_article_91120.html as for who's playing who, that was another reason the film got put on hold. they couldn't agree on casting. they wanted people in late 20's so they can have a franchise and are likely to stick about for more films and so they can make them without having an effect on making more batman films, superman films etc, cos if they took bale and that, they'd be playing the character possibly uninterrupted for years. batman/superman movie would be great, there's many plots from the batman/superman comics that would work brilliantly on screen, they can go straight into it, rather then spent time introducing the characters. the robin series was thought up by the people that did smallville, nothing to do with the JLA movie. and thankfully that was scrapped. i'm not saying you're wrong about what their saying, just saying the no tights is tom's rule, they have no control over it, which is why if they are asked, they say no thats all. and just correcting the info about Bart Allen being called impulse as he was impulse originally, then became kid flash and only became flash after his appearance in smallville, which his stint was short lived as he got killed by the Rogues. RE: Smallville: Doomsday: Clark Kent vs Doomsday Preview - firekind - 14-05-2009 15:02 why would the guy in the superman role be making the rules? if he is then they should just replace him with another actor. it wouldnt be hard to write a story where an alternative superman takes over RE: Smallville: Doomsday: Clark Kent vs Doomsday Preview - *Kal-El* - 14-05-2009 18:46 That was my point about it being the actors chose as i know its dc comics doing. I've found a interview of Darren Swimmer the executive producer from ScifiNow issue 27: ScifiNow: Everybody plays coy with the "no flights, no tights" rule, but eight seasons in, isn't it about time this guy started flying? Darren Swimmer: That's the question. I can't really comment on that. I don't mean that cagey way, but we don't want to do cheesy flying. ScifiNow: So part of that is the practical aspect, the cost of making somebody fly. Darren Swimmer: Its also become an interesting metaphor for clark not accepting his accepting his destiny. In our minds the reason he can't fly is purely psychological. When he was hypnotised or brainwashed or mind-wiped by Jol-El, he was able to fly. So for now, we have no plan on having him fly in episodes in the near future. ScifiNow: He has got good at leaping. Darren Swimmer: Yes, he does do a lot of leaping. He's perfecting the super leap. Just to remind people, when superman first appeared in Action#1, he didn't fly. ScifiNow: Will Clark be toying the idea of costume? Darren Swimmer: The development of that will be some fun things that we will see.
