He even idolised that Norwegian lunatic Anders Breivik! The fact that he was Australian and not a New Zealander is telling, as it shows how latent the racism still is in Australia. I was there in 1993 in Freemantle and a large black American submariner was walking through the street and everybody was staring at him-to them a black person is Aboriginal. It also shows how diverse New Zealand is now but it is terribly sad that a small island at the back end of the world has to have something like this knock on their door and could well change the country forever.

Prime Minister Ardern is working hard to set the right tone in the aftermath, meeting leaders of the Islamic Community and talking about a ban on assault weapons.
It is my hope that setting this tone will help steer the country in the right direction in the aftermath of this tragic and awful event. Though I am not exactly holding my breath.
To finish on a better note she has said that she received a call from President Trump asking what The United States could do and she replied "Sympathy and love for all Muslim Communities".
