Funny how none of these Billionaires were keen to throw cash around when they were looking for money to fix it before the fire.

It was up to the french goverment to look after buildings and they were penny pinching which is prob why the thing burned in the first place

liked the interview with the boss of Louis vitton who bascially said we have been cashing in on the french name for decades and it was time to pay back france

Yes, all Churches and Cathedrals pre 1905 (iirc) are the responsibility of the French Government but that doesn't stop anyone making a voluntary donation.

If the building is so important to them now it's a bit crispy, it should have been equally important when it was in danger of falling down......but wait, there wasn't any worldwide TV coverage then, was there.

Let's hope they don't go to the Glasgow School of Art for pointers...

Been reading the team behind the Assassins Creed games at Ubisoft are donating money to help with restoration of the Notre-Dame.

Apparently they offered the 3d renderings they took over a 14 month period too, the spire is the only thing that's really different, as they used an older version in the game, pretty cool stuff. Unlike some, that the cynic in me says are doing it so that their names become attached to the restoration, this is a genuine here you go, hope this helps offer.
