Should be a cracking final if both sides turn up! Australia have to start as favourites given how they have steamrollered all comers in this world cup. England though, on the flip side, having gained such momentum after it appeared they were done and dusted, have a free shot to nothing in effect, with little to lose. I know it is the world cup final, but you know what I am getting at. The only caveat being that - even though they have gone back - to - back - to - back, they have still shown real inconsistencies in the way they have played.

I know how I will spend tomorrow now. Trick is avoiding all mention of the result until I settle down to watch. Can't even turn the tv on much before 9.30 in the morning, as it may not long be finished - if at all!!

Really pleased for the Team reaching the Final. It shows they have a far better team spirit than the men's team lol

Australia Women 356-6 off 50 ov
England 149/4 of 24 ovs

that is a seriously big total to chase down

Australia better team
England went close

What a final!!HeartHeart Yes England fell short (in circumstances of missed opportunities and short of better batting shot selection/execution). Came much closer than seemed likely for much of the run chase, but huge big up to Nat Sciver. One hell of a knock, and given the pressure of the situation - for me - the equal of Alyssa Healy's magnificent ton in the set up. I feel it is always that bit harder to build and achieve a century knock in a run chase!

England were way off in the field (have been for much of the tournament) and it cost them big time. I can't imagine reaching the final after being backs against the wall in the final matches of the group stage will be of any consolation.

Step aside men's ODI. The girls have it...the girls have it!!

Question is, would it have been closer had England batted first. Runs on the board in a Final can exert a pressure of it's own. Perhaps posting around 300 would've given them a better chance. Again, 2 big dropped catches didn't help. They bowled far too short, Brunt & Shrubsole have years of experience but got the plans & execution wrong.
Australia have been a team on a mission to win this, & are rightly being hailed as the best women's ODI team ever.

A very fine bowler for England and the key to the World Cup final success of 2017.

Will be missed.

36 year old Katherine Brunt has also announced her retirement from international cricket. England will miss her.
