RE: Smallville Season Nine - Shandy - 24-07-2009 07:41

Some new bits from Comicon - The suit makes its on-screen debut in the Season Nine premiere, which is called "Superman".

quote from a lady there - "it's gobsmackingly awesome! no spandex it looked like leather, its one suit, the top is blue at front and back, red on sides and arms, the trousers are blue at the front and back, red at sides. the superman symbol on the chest protruding out, its red. no cape. it was on a stand we could walk around."

apparantly on sunday Tom Welling is flying in just to wear it when its unveilled at for Smallville presentation at Comicon, so hopefully pics with start to appear.

queue people bitching about it already without seeing it.........

also regarding Zod, a quote from the producers: "We had a little peek at who Zod was a couple of seasons ago, which fans will remember. But this a different incarnation of Zod," Peterson said. "We’re introducing him as Major Zod—this is before he became General Zod." Souders added that "over the course of the season, the venomous side of Zod rises because he experiences a few key betrayals with our beloved characters."

Some more new smallville news:

Michael Ausiello at Entertainment Weekly is saying that we'll be seeing an iconic "S" symbol "all over the place" in Season 9, including on Clark's chest. This spoiler may have something to do with Clark's "new approach to fighting crime" that we posted about last week.

Clark Kent (Tom Welling) is getting a little obsessed as the Red Blue Blur, his budding crime-fighting alias. "He is trying a little too hard to be a hero, and is leaving the rest of his life behind," executive producer Brian Peterson told the magazine.
John Corben (a.k.a. Metallo) is a new reporter at the Daily Planet who ends up with a Kryptonite heart. As for his backstory: "We know that there’s multiple versions of Metallo," executive producer Kelly Souders explained. "We picked one of the different versions and I think people will realize which one after the first episode."
- Regarding Zod: "We had a little peek at who Zod was a couple of seasons ago, which fans will remember. But this a different incarnation of Zod," Peterson said. "We’re introducing him as Major Zod—this is before he became General Zod." Souders added that "over the course of the season, the venomous side of Zod rises because he experiences a few key betrayals with our beloved characters.

Erica Durance will be in 18 eps. Cassidy Freeman, Justin Hartley & Callum Blue will be in 16 eps. Tom Welling directing 2 eps, Geoff Johns is writing a Justice Society ep (not sure how that will work really as JSA is old school heroes), which will be called Society.
