Novak Djokovic beat Dominic Thiem in five sets 6-4 4-6 2-6 6-3 6-4 for his 17th Grand Slam title.

To be honest I do rather feel for Djokovic.
Every slam he plays the crowd seem to want the opposing player to win and he does not get the respect he deserves.
But he keeps delivering in spite of it all.
Fair play to him.

I think this is the greatest era for men's tennis, with Fed, Nad and Djok. Add in Murray and a few of the others and surely this is as good as it has ever got?

Well done to him, but also Thiem for lasting the distance.

I agree. Djokovic gets overlooked, people seem to find him unlikeable for some reason. He's the player I enjoy watching the most, he's a machine and I hope he breaks the record for most slams. Nothing against Federer who has been amazing for nearly 20 years, I just think Nadal will break Federer's record and I would rather Djokovic had the record instead of the arse picker.

Several players and officals have been placed back in quarantine after a worker at one of the Hotel's where some of them were staying has tested positive for covid. Plunging the tournament which starts on Monday into chaos.

The hotel is already being critised after they held a party for 60 of there staff for helping to successfully isolate the players.
However the guy who tested positive didn't attend the party.

Dan Evans and Cameron Norrie, the only 2 Brit guys in the opening round, have been drawn against each other.

RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 08-02-2021 09:06

Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka got through their opening matches, but Katie Boulter and Angelique Kerber didn't.

RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 09-02-2021 14:57

Jo Konta had to quit with an abdominal injury. Heather Watson won though.

Azarenka and Ostapenko lost, but Kenin and many others won. (I mean, yes, "many others won" isn't really rocket science).

About half of them, I would reckon.

RE: Australian Open - Doddle - 10-02-2021 08:55

Serena Williams and Garbine Muguruza are through, Kvitova lost though.

Heather Watson is still in the doubles.

RE: Australian Open - Snooks - 11-02-2021 07:16

Heather Watson is out of the singles after a three set defeat to Anett Kontaveit of Estonia.

Defending ladies champ Sofia Kenin is also out after a 6-3 6-2 loss to Kaia Kanepi.
