As I understand it, free school meals is a local government rather than a national government issue a d national government has given substantial amounts of extra money to councils for this and other issues

If a country with an economy that's in the top ten in the world (for now) has need for food banks, then the government has failed it's citizens. It's a disgrace and under the Tories is only getting worse. That's a fact.

It doesn't help matters when smart arse little trolls poison discussions on such serious matters with their pathetic attention seeking crap Rolleyes

Totally agree. The thing I find amazing is the amount of political capital used up in this for the relative small cost compared to “eat out to help out” could have been turned in to such a positive for a govt under siege.
i think PMQ's will be interesting, and see how many Tory bavkbench MP's grt a backbone and pile pressure 9n Boris on this.

but over the last 10 years they have cut the funding by billions and local councils also dealing with crisis in nursing homes with most local councils running homes

not to mention most of the northern towns in severe lockdown restrictions the govt chucks a few quid at them says they are doing it

Now imagine that 12 billion spaffed on Boris buddies had been put into local test and trace and made sure councils could cope we would be in a better place

anyway we know the real reason why they voted against it was because it was an labour ammendment Steve baker actually had the guts to say it

And the only reason money was not made according to Treasury sources was that Frank spencer at education decided not to ask for the money from them for it

and the govt has decided labour cant have its next scheduled opposition day on the 4th of nov when they get back from there nice little break I wonder why ?
