I've never seen so many 1 sided matches. Sri Lanka were totally outplayed in all one day formats. And we didn't have three of our superstars playing.

Yes the conditions suited English swing and seam bowling but this Sri Lankan team were the worse one that I've ever seen.
Not just their batting, bowling, fielding but also their running between the wickets was comical.

You have to ask how many of this team would be used in the Sri Lankan team of 10 years ago... Absolutely none.

Where are their attacking openers who could rip open an attack within the 1st 5 overs.
Where's the world class keeper, their stylish number 4, and their steady swing seamer. And best of all where is their curly haired flat arm death bowler or their bent armed spin bolwer. All gone.

^^ Great post Charl. The main problem with Sri Lankan cricket is they are still living off winning the 1996 World Cup & they resistant to the changes that are required, the game has moved on since then. England realized that fact after being dumped out of a World Cup which heralded the successful Morgan era. Sri Lanka have gone backwards, this is the team that invented the pinch-hitting opener, with Kaluwitharana.
The National team are having issues regarding contracts, with a a new slightly puzzling tiered grading system.
The First-Class domestic competition has 24 teams, which breeds mediocrity. The pitches are so dry that finger-spinners comprised 90% of the top 10 wicket takers every season for the last 6 years.
Add to that, the national team has had 5 coaches in the last 8 years. If the money is there, they should try to tempt Mahela Jayawardene away from the IPL & other lucrative T20 tournaments, as he's regarded as one of the best coaches in the e T20 format.
