So are England saying their two leading wicket takers of all time won’t be good enough to get wickets here?
It’s a weird message to send to the other bowlers too! If they are “resting” them for the day/night test then the bowlers playing here know two of them are going to get dropped for the next regardless.
I go back to the sporting saying ‘do what your opposition least want you to do’. Pretty sure Warner did cartwheels when he saw no Broad!

On the contrary, they would be delighted if they were playing. Perhaps they could have persuaded Root to bowl first, as they would both have fancied the conditions yesterday.
Cummins admitted he was glad to lose the toss, so a bit of luck for Australia there. It was also nice for them that the rain came when it did, so they didn't have to bat in that final session.
