The focus as I understand it is being placed on accounting more comprehensively for delays to the play in real time.

So things like substitutions, VAR reviews, injury treatments etc etc are being timed and the time added on in each half.
My understanding is that exact time measurements were not as stringently in place before.

The German fans don't look happy Rolleyes But they have been beaten by a better team.

Superb winning goal from Takuma Asano.
Worthy of winning any match.
The Japan manager made some excellent and impactful substitutions and the turnaround was amazing.
First ever win over the Germans for Japan.

Some great games so far. Shocks already.
Germany lose and their next game is against Spain.
All eyes on the likes of Spain, Belgium, Portugal and Brazil over the next two days.

Great goals scored in this World Cup, my favourites so far being by Japan and Saudi Arabia.

That Spain v Germany match is a blockbuster now. Smile

(edit) Just seen another fabulous goal - check out Gavi's goal, Spain's (edit) 5th, just belted in against Costa Rica. Fantastic technique.

To be fair i actually thought Germany was the better team they had plenty of chances but didn't take them plus the Japanese goalkeeper made some great saves.

Japan took there chances when they come and Germany didn't how ever i do love an upset so well done Japan.

Notes from Wednesday.

Spain's Gavi became the youngest goalscorer in the tournament so far (age 18). France's Olivier Giroud is the oldest (age 36).

Croatia against Morocco became the shortest match to be played so far (total added time 8.18).

Costa Rica didn't manage a goal attempt in their match against Spain and that equals the World Cup record, which was also set by Costa Rice when they failed to register a goal attempt against Brazil in 1990.

…and an important one for those of us bummed that Italy never qualified Sad

By losing to Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, Argentina fell one game short of matching Italy’s record of 37 games without a loss.

Minor consolation for the azzurri sitting at home, but still something…

I'll score Ronaldo a 9.9 for that dive.

Early contender for goal of the tournament - check out that Richarlison bicycle kick volley - I could watch it all night. Smile
