^ The government have already said it’s possible that will happen. The reality is hundreds of innocent sub postmasters will be cleared & compensated and if the price of that is a few who truly were guilty get included as well then so be it.

Thanks for writing this. I didn't dare. I don't suppose there is any/many but AFAIK there was 11500 post offices and the books didn't ballance at a thousand or something so I don't understand.

That's on the Post Office's head. It's their fuck up.

Some of the sub postmasters rathered it would go through the courts so that they would be proven innocent rather than have it overturned by parliament.

It is quite disconcerting how a tv show watched by 14m people, less than a third of registered voters or indeed the adult population, results in a media firestorm that leads to politicians in less than 2 weeks passing an act of parliament that will overturn 900 + verdicts by the independant judiciary without even scrutinising the cases for themselves.

On top of that you've had a media feeding frenzy where the ire of the public has been focused largely on one individual, all be it a guilty party, and a petition to remove ones knighthood.

We've had anger, reactionism, playing to the gallery, trial and punishment by the court of public opinion and mob mentality. All the wrong things for the right reason

Don't get me wrong I'm happy to see individuals get exonerated, the incredible burden with which i cannot imagine lifted and nefarious individuals get their commeupance but the means has left a bad taste in my mouth

An independant councillor is threatening to stand against Liberal Democrat leader Ed Davey over his involvement in the scandal.

She was previously the deputy manager of a local Post Office branch.

After watching the inquiry today it's obvious that the lead Post Office investigator is totally out of his depth.

I'd add he was not only out of his depth but well up shit creek

I think £75k is the starting point for compensation? I wonder how many ex PO managers are going to get a rough ride in the inquiry and how many will end up in court?

So many have died without an apology. Far too many excuses for not getting their finger out and sorting this fiasco .

Half the bloody problem was, it seemed like no - one in their IT dept had a fucking clue about what was happening and let it fester.

I also agree that no IT system is perfect and without it's flaws, but if they had enough IT guys working to fix it it seemed like half of them gave up trying before they did anything.

I hope some of these IT PO 'experts' get a bloody good grilling at the inquiry!

This is the full list of Ministers responsible for The Post Office from when the Horizon system was being brought in up to today. It is claimed that the only 2 to ever have met the campaigners for justice for the sub-postmasters are Ed Davey and Kevin Hollinrake. Note the right wing press and idiots like Lee (30p) Atkinson are very keen to put the blame on Ed Davey. It's purely political. Lib Dems are a threat in many Tory constituencies at the coming General Election. Davey himself says that he was actually advised by Civil Servants not to meet Alan Bates.
