Pakistan fielders looking tired, England have pressed the accelerator, both players could book in for triple centuries, but this is unselfish batting, playing for the team. Maybe Root will keep the same tempo, Brook has hit the gamble button, wicket looks imminent I fear.

Joe Root batted for just over 10 hours in his 262 laugh. And he has been on the field for all but 8 balls of the match up to his wicket falling.

it is only the second time that England have ever had two double centurions in the same innings and first since Graeme Fowler and Mike Gatting achieved the feat against India all the way back in 1985. It has only happened 10 times in total this century and 20 times ever in international Test cricket.

They now have the highest ever Test partnership of 454.

Update Pakistan just dropped Brook. He then hit the next ball for 6.

England declared on 823 for 7.

Brook got 317 and Root got 262. I suppose Yorkies have their uses. Wink

Quite ludicrous, yet brilliant.

The Fourth highest Test Total

Brook's current batting average is the highest of any England player (played at least 10 matches) on 62.5.

Put that into context that Herbert Sutcliffe had figures of 60.73.

It puts Brook at no3 in the all time records list behind Bradman and an Indian batsman who's only played 11 matches (currently).

Root is currently on 57.14.

Not looking good for this forecast Charles laugh

^ It's brillant how England's managed to get 6 wickets in the 2nd innings. Pakistan 152/6. Trail by 115 runs.

England's score was the 4th highest ever. Needing 130 more runs to be the all time highest.

It's a balancing act, highest ever score, or an easy win against a poor test team. They obviously decided that the win was more important.

Fantastic interview with the Yorkshire boys on Sky. After what they both achieved it was handled in their usual self effacing manner & humour.
I was a little alarmed but not surprised that Brooky wasn't aware of the record score by Sir Len Hutton, he is very much on his own planet at times, but clearly not daft by any means.
Seeing both these lads come through the ranks at Yorkshire it fills me with immense pride to not only see how the performed but equally how they conduct themselves.
