RE: Top Gear - BaddaBing - 08-02-2015 21:09 Not laughed so much at any TV show in ages, great ep tonight RE: Top Gear - biggles - 08-02-2015 21:39 I've finally worked it out. Top Gear is not about cars or motoring. It's about 3 middle aged men behaving badly, so it's a comedy and should be treated as such. RE: Top Gear - munch1917 - 09-02-2015 05:39 I thought it was a pretty dire episode. The whole 'ambulance' thing was so obviously scripted from start to finish. Don't get me wrong, I'm not suggesting that the other 'specials' on other episodes aren't scripted and set up as well, but at least they usually have an air of believability about them, but practically every part of this one was clearly put on, smug James crowing about his gps guided trolley whilst carefully stood with his back to it while it rolled away, James again sat patiently waiting for useless driver to get out his way, Jeremy's patient fired cleanly through the 'hospital' doors, and Hammond's fired hilariously through a window. It was all just too obviously staged for my liking, and detracted from the whole thing, and made it kinda pointless. Can't help feeling perhaps they are trying a bit too hard this series, with the two overseas specials kicking off the series, and extra episodes as well, perhaps a case of too much quantity not enough quality. Top Gear said a few years ago that the show was not a motoring programme anymore but an entertainment show with a motoring theme. Save for Top Gear I often find it a struggle to find anything mildly entertaining among the shit that is served up by the 70 odd channels on tv. RE: Top Gear - HannahsPet - 09-02-2015 08:25 But as i dare say it as a Middle aged man i like the fact there is a prog with 3 middle aged men dicking around plenty of tv shows with 20 somethings dicking around and loads of progs aimed at middle aged women like loose women bout time Middle aged men had there own shows RE: Top Gear - jimmyt73 - 09-02-2015 12:21 Great show last night,ok it may have looked less like a motoring show at times but its good to be entertained and have something to laugh at. 8/10 RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 09-02-2015 15:56 I expect there'll be more complaints. I was a bit narked about some of the continuity nods, and the ambulance thing was just a retread of the police car stuff from whenever that was. It does detract when it's so obvious how set up it is, but then I suppose if you're pulling the logic to bits, then it does beg the question why watch? Same time next week RE: Top Gear - Doddle - 10-02-2015 15:07 I see Will Smith is on next week. That should be interesting... RE: Top Gear - Rammyrascal - 10-02-2015 17:04 Thought it was a really good very funny episode last Sunday with the icing on the cake being Daniel Ricciardo becoming the new fastest f1 driver in the liana 8/10 RE: Top Gear - biggles - 10-02-2015 17:10 It's the New Last of the Summer Wine ) |
