I see that the British paratroopers who were dropped as part of the Normandy D Day Commemorations had their passports check by French Border officials in temporary customs posts.

In reality it's a non-story. They had to show passports for the 70th Anniversary back in 2014 too as while the UK was still in the EU at the time, we were never part of Schengen.
The only difference this year is that the passports would have been stamped.
