RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-10-2021 18:00 Today we get a long awaited Downing St, press conference, headed by the Health Secretary. The general message was, as far as I can make out, is things are really bad, & look like getting worse. But other than urging people to get vaccinated, wear mask where appropriate, get tested/isolate as before. All the same stuff, but no real immediate action required, only that there's a Plan B in place for restrictions if they see fit. My interpretation of this is, that the current plan is to let the situation worsen, before Plan B will be considered. The hope is that those of us that aren't playing ball will suddenly decide to start, not a chance. Strong early action works best with this virus, yet we continue to act late, & then not hard enough, ultimately resulting in longer heavier restriction. The indecision with cost preventable loss of lives. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Cooper_temple - 20-10-2021 18:44 Says something where Javid makes Hancock look half competent! Plan B will be brought in after the Oct school half term. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Charlemagne - 20-10-2021 18:54 Same old government, acting too late. Yet again ![]() New York City is getting tough with it's Police, Fire and Municiple Workers. They get the jab or go on unpaid leave. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Charlemagne - 20-10-2021 19:08 It's interesting to see the areas where the covid rate is lower. The areas where the delta variant first took hold, Blackburn, Bolton, Burnley, Leicester. London Most of Scotland. Birmingham The South Coast (Kent & Sussex) The worse area that I found was Blaenau Gwent in Wales, and Harrogate and Wiltshire were also high. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-10-2021 19:30 ^^ That would suggest that in the areas first hit with the Delta variant, have made a slight recovery. Those infected that have recovered will as least have some natural immunity, although reinfection can occur. There is no need at all for the plan b most of the infections are in schools ATM and very soon they will start to drop as so many kids have had it now it's running out of people to infect, we are following in England exactly what happened in Scotland just 4--6 weeks later as the Scots went back to school much earlier, in a couple of weeks we should see the English numbers really start to drop fast, RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Skyline - 21-10-2021 13:31 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - SecretAgent - 21-10-2021 13:44 Interesting Winsaw that you know more than Sajid Javid who warned yesterday that cases could reach 100,000 per day. Oh and the British Medical Association are warning of the consequences of failing to act now. I hope you are right but sadly this government is incompetent and any action they do take to restrict spread will be too little too late. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Charlemagne - 21-10-2021 13:52 It's looking like there could be a needless flu jab available next year after an announcement by British biotech firm Enesi Pharma. Trails are begining at the end of this year. So it may be possible for the covid vaccine be administered in a simular fashion soon. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Charlemagne - 22-10-2021 18:49 I've just been looking at the changed process that to be followed when travelling back to the UK from a non red country. This is how I understand it. Contact and pay for a home antigen test kit and use the given code on the Passenger Location Form. The kit should have been delivered to your home address (there's a click and collect option) on your return to the country. Before day 2, you have to use the kit purchased to take your own antigen test and use the kit to find out the result. Download the app from the firms website and take a pic of the results and send it to them. Alternatively you can arrange to have a test done at the airport. I'm not sure if there are any other options. Or you can use the previous way of PCR testing (take test and drop off at a given address). |
