RE: UFC - groundnpound - 25-08-2010 11:04 Is Dana White trying to lure Tyson into the UFC ??? RE: UFC - mitchell - 25-08-2010 11:31 I very much doubt Tyson will ever fight in the UFC??? I know of someone who is fairly good friends with Mike Tyson, Tyson is a big fan of the UFC & has a good knowledge of the mma game, He doesn't have the patience, temperament & will power to train in mma. As much as he needs the money i don't see him going into the octagon, although he looks in top shape from a few months back when he suffered from slight depression due to his daughters death i still don't see it happening. I met him once & he's a top man not what most people would expect he's pretty shy. RE: UFC - mitchell - 25-08-2010 12:09 Remember human punch bag Cabbage "Head full of concrete & stuff" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fW_nxY2TAOw Tank v Cabbage is on this as well, & Tank v Kimbo on the same page as this fight. I can't believe he's still only 32 i'd love to see him in the heavyweight against some of the bangers nowadays, although judging by his record from 06-08 it's no wonder he's not fought for 2 years. He must've taken over 1000 head shots in his 33 fights, i wanna see the Tim Sylvia fight again but can't find a vid that plays without buffering then stopping. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wesley_Correira RE: UFC - mitchell - 25-08-2010 13:29 Randy's son, Ryan Couture, 5-1-1 as an amture made a pretty impressive debut in Strikeforce earlier this month. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11Fqv--iCKE RE: UFC - mitchell - 29-08-2010 00:32 I fucked up on the premier league so i may as well try mma instead, here goes. -Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz. Close fight but no loss in last 11. -Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruedige. UFC experience. -Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis. Ground game. -Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard. Unbeaten & on the up. -Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda. Don't know this guy but he's got a good record, close fight. -Randy Couture vs. James Toney. No seriously he got a good chance. -Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn. Could be intresting, but i'll say BJ. 5 out of 7 i'll take that!!! RE: UFC - mitchell - 29-08-2010 16:51 What the fuck's happened to BJ that's 2 fights now where he's done jack shit, most say the first was close, well not this time. He didn't attempt anything all fight except a half hearted take down which he got & then lost, the guy is supposed to be one the greatest fighters out there & in 2 title fights he's been outfought from start to finish especially last night he didn't have an answer to Edgar's whipper snapper tactics. Maynard was too strong for Florian, who didn't have an answer to whatever Maynard did. I think the occasion got to Kenny, he knew if he lost this fight then a title shot if the is one will be a long way away + the expectation of being the hometown boy was a little too much, I think Maynard will beat Edgar. That can't be said for Joe Lauzon who steamrolled Ruedige & is looking good after his injury layoff. Damian Maia is just another one dimensional fighter like one or two of the wrestlers ( Matt Hughes), yes his BJJ is top class but he doesn't have much else. Nick Diaz step up to welterweight is going well, personally i think & hope he will gain a title shot at some point, although there are a lot of good fights to be had in this division, Hardy, Hathaway, Hyun-Kim, Sanchez & Matt Brown although his next fight will probably be Dustin Hazelett due to both being good BBJ fighters. I thought Andre Winner was unlucky to fight a guy who only wanted to hold you against the cage & throw rabbit punches, Dana is gonna have to do something about these one dimensional fighters who are being given there shot in the UFC, which is a MMA organization. As for the other fight... I don't feel the need to comment as i personally don't think it should have ever happened!!! RE: UFC - Carl13 - 29-08-2010 19:25 Wonder if the rumours of Penn struggling to make weight were true? Really thought he would come in and really step-up his performance after the last contest but he was just as lifeless. Failed to continue to use legs kicks to try to slow Edgar down after a few early attempts, was taken down with ease, which didn't happen in the first fight, and when on the ground couldn't use his weight or even take advantage when he had Edgar's back late on. UFC already have a storyline in place for the Edgar V Maynard match-up with Edgar looking to avenge his only lose and Maynard probably thinking he should have had the shot at Penn in Abu Dhabi. Diaz looked good although he was caught early when taunting Davis. Good submission finish to the best fight of the night. Joe Lauzon looked in a different class to Ruediger (Which is probably why this was his first fight in the UFC since 06). Both Florian (In defeat) & Maia (In victory) looked as if they didn't have a Plan B or C in place in case they needed it and will have a lot to consider / improve on if they want title shots again. Maia looked completely exhausted by the end. Couture took Toney down even easier than I thought he would (Don't think they covered take-down defence during his 9 months of MMA training) and it was all over from there RE: UFC - 199lives - 31-08-2010 18:23 pretty sure dana only gave Toney the fight to get him to stop pestering him and to try and show the world that mma is more than just brawling, a former multi world champ boxer got handled with ease. don't know whats going on with penn thought in the first fight he was just un-motivated and thought he could cruise to a decision, but to do the same thing again and get beat more decisively. don't know where he goes from here as i don't think he can handle the top guys at welter and think his ego is to big to fight his way back to the top at lightweight. nate has looked good since moving up to welter, he is still tall at this weight so getting down to light weight must have been hard so probably benefitting from not having to diet and cut as much RE: UFC - mitchell - 31-08-2010 18:54 I didn't see this one coming, i hope they record it & put it on the website. http://uk.ufc.com/news/DANA-WHITE-TO-ADDRESS+OXFORD-UNION-SOCIETY RE: UFC - mitchell - 02-09-2010 19:12 Bonus awards Fighters were awarded $60,000 bonuses.
