What a great way to close out a Playoff, the approach shot just cleared the bunker & ran out to tap-in distance, Spieth ran out of magic from that point.

An outstanding 10 under par round of 61 has put defending champion Jon Rahm back in contention in the Mexico Open after 54 holes.

RE: Golf - Boomerangutangangbang - 30-04-2023 18:51

Starting the final round 2 back Rahm might need to repeat his course record 3rd round score to beat Finau.

Jason Day won his 1st event since 2018. He suffers from vertigo apparently.

Another near-miss for Tommy Fleetwood on the PGA Tour in the Canadian Open. He had previously been runner up 4 times on US soil before today. Canadian Nick Taylor became the 1st homegrown winner for 69 years as he sunk a monster 72 foot putt for eagle on the 4th extra hole in a compelling Playoff. Tommy had his chances, he as tied for the lead playing the 18th, a reachable par 5, but missed the fairway with both his drive & layup. It required a difficult 2 putts for par from distance to make the Playoff when the rest of the field had been making birdies on the hole.
Englishmen Rai & Hatton tied for 3rd. Rory had won this event the 2 previous times but didn't have his best over the weekend.

Lots of big name players at the Renaissance Club for the Scottish Open. The last DP World Tour event before The Open Championship next week should ensure a high quality and competitive four days.

RE: Golf - Snooks - 14-07-2023 21:49

The halfway stage at The Renaissance Club and Rory McIlroy holds a one shot lead at -10 from Tom Kim of South Korea on -9. Tyrrell Hatton is one shot further back at -8 with World number one Scottie Scheffler one shot further adrift at -7.

RE: Golf - Snooks - 16-07-2023 21:52

McIlroy held firm to clinch the title by one shot over Robert McIntyre.

Hoping McIlroy has found form in time. I hope so, as I think some will see any British winner hopes rest on his shoulders. I feel Hoylake is likely set up far more for the likes of Koepka & Schauffle and I feel De Chambeau will finish in the top 20 as I feel his game willl be stifled by Hoylake's challenges.
