Jason Roy wasn't happy when specsavers umpire Kumar Dharmasena wrongly gave him out when he was just 15 runs short of a century.

Roy asked for a review but it was already used, so he ushered off the pitch by the other umpire.

But he's now facing disciplinary action for showing dissent at the umpire's decision.
He was fined 30% of his match fee and given two demerit points. That takes him up to 3. But he will be OK for the final as he would only get a 2 match ban if he reaches 4 points

The mistake was to ask for a review for the LBW for Bairstow, who was plum in front. bladewave

Also Bairstow is carrying an injuries.

The semi-final victory over Australia was England's 55th win in their last 72 ODI matches (a win rate of 76.4%).

It was England's 7th win out of 10 in this tournament and their 10th win in their last 12 ODIs against Australia.

Much less made of Roy's emotional 'explosion' than would have been the case if any one of the aussies had been the one to blow??….no??….really??!!

Come Sunday, NZ will be 2nd favourites and need their A game to have a sniff at all. Bowling maybe on a par, fielding skills not that far apart, but NZ batting all over the show!! Unless the kiwis can get Guptill - in particular - into some kind of shape to contribute, then I don't think they will want to set a score. The Mo they used against India, will not work again I don't think, given England's intent to go hard then harder.

Hopefully we don't have a purely batting pitch, and the best bowlers can get something back into their rapidly emptying bank account, with the aid of the 'slope'

It is the 7 out of 10 and reach the final I don't like, but fair play...they have made it under the rules. Coming back from last chance saloon with two must wins back - to - back took some doing. I acknowledge that!!

England have been runners-up 3 times (1979, 1987 and 1992) and New Zealand once (2015). Regardless of who wins the final there will be a new winner of the World Cup this year.

NZ won the toss and will bat

RE: ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 - Charlemagne - 14-07-2019 10:29

If you look at the individuals it shouldn't be a contest

Martin Guptill. Good opener but has failed big style in this World Cup.
Henry Nicholls. Only there because there's no-one else. One of the worse openers to have played a ODI
Kane Williamson. One of the best batsman in the world but had been at the crease too early due to the previous poor batting
Ross Taylor. In my opinion he's over the top, but can still put together a decent score.
Tom Latham. Decent batter but he's a pusher rather than being a big hitter
James Neesham. Exciting allrounder, can score quickly and a decent bowler.
Colin Grandhomme. He's just OK.
Lockie Ferguson. He's quick, and he could cause problems to Buttler, Stokes and Morgan. Potential match winner.
Mitchell Santer. Can bowl inexpensively
Matt Henry. Good fast bowler
Trent Boult. His left arm quick bowling could cause problems to Bairstow and Roy. He's the New Zealand match winner.
But sods law says that 'things never happen as they should do'

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first

The final sees the No.1 ranked ODI team, England, take on the No.3 ranked team, New Zealand. (The top 4 countires in the rankings are the 4 which played in the semi-finals.)

Both sides are unchanged. New Zealand won the toss for the 7th time out of 10 in this tournament (there was no toss in their group match against India which was rained off).

god this is boring 103-2 run rate at just over 4 an over though
