Great to see Somerset putting up a strong title challenge, trailing Surrey by 9. Lancashire are in some strife at the wrong end of the table, Kent look all but gone. Somerset visit Old Trafford next week with a lot on the match for different reasons.

Whilst Kent host 8th place Notts Surprised It's not looking too clever...

I would say that Lancs should draft in Jimmy Anderson into their ranks, but looking at their bonus points it's the batting that is the issue. The top 7 doesn't have the class of old, some younger player, Hurst looks like he has talent. 15 batting points from 12 matches doesn't cut it.

Worcestershire need 4 points to survive by my calculations.
At the start of the season I would have given them little chance of staying up.
But they are within touching distance of a brilliant achievement.

Lancs started badly, being all out for 140. Surprisingly, before you can say "who prepared this pitch?", they got Somerset out for 146. With Lancs at 16-1 by the end, it looks like it could be all done tomorrow.

Notts demolishing Kent btw

Worcestershire are safe.

Tongue Wink.

Even if Hampshire slaughter em who cares?
It's a real achievement to stay up Smile.

Lancs much better on Day 2. However unless Kent's match is somehow washed out, or hit by a freak tornado maybe, it's all likely to become moot.

RE: County Cricket - Boomerangutangangbang - 18-09-2024 20:21

Warwickshire got hammered by Essex, which should help Lancs cause.

Sussex have gained promotion to Division 2 with their win against Gloucestershire, if Yorkshire fail to beat Glamorgan tomorrow they will go up as Division 2 Champions, that is still likely to be the case with one round of matches to go.
Yorkshire require 3 Glamorgan wickets, but play looks doubtful much beyond lunch.

RE: County Cricket - Doddle - 19-09-2024 20:08

Day 3 was perhaps typical Lancashire - from 168-6, then they found 218 runs for the next 2 wickets. Somerset have a tough run chase tomorrow, but we won't be surprised whatever happens.
