Your lack of understanding is total. Dominance and submission is a form of sexual behaviour that has endured throughout history. It is nothing whatever to do with the modern age. It was practiced in Ancient Rome. Nor is the role of the dominant only played by women, as you seem to mistakenly think. Dominants and submissives can be either male or female and more women are reckoned to be submissive than dominant. Perhaps you need to read up on the subject? I recommend Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's Venus In Furs, published 1869, in which the protagonist Severin persuades a woman, Wanda, to take him on as her slave. Another useful read would be Claudia Varrin's The Sensual Joys of Female Submission, published 2001, the title of which is self explanatory and will help you to understand that it's not always the woman who takes the dominant role. With a bit of educational reading, perhaps the domination nights will be more understandable to you?
