Michael Clarke is to retire at the end of the series.

YES! Well done England - lets see if we can make it 4-1!
Gonna miss Clarke very good batsman and caused England loads of problems at least until this series.

I guess that's the SPOTY team award sewn up for this year then.

He was obviously judged off the flat pitches in Australia and not the swinging and seaming pitches of England

That is the great thing about cricket isn't it? It's all horses for courses and shows why it's such a big thing to win test series abroad.
Look at Mitch Johnson. On hard Australian and south African wickets he is almost unplayable. In England he never really has got it done.
The late phil Hughes was the same with the bat. Loads of runs in South Africa and Australia, could not buy a run in England.

And congratulations for getting a result before the start of the football season - wont have to worry about double booking my sport now.

Winning the Ashes was a true champagne moment. Just ask commentator Ian Ward, he had 3 bottles poured over his head

This current Australian side are vastly overrated, the bowling attack is at best average and their batting lineup is very brittle. At home they look like world beaters but take them out of their comfort zone and they are exposed as a weak side who lack the stomach for a real fight.

To be fair we could be saying the same thing about England after next ashes series in Australia. One thing that will encourage the Aussies is the fact they know they can get us out. That was my concern after the last ashes series at home.

I think Ryan Harris retiring was a huge Blow for them . He is an English style bowler if ever there was one. An extremely under rated bowler. He was integral to them winning 2-0 in south Africa.

After this series the aussies will have a major rebuilding job on their hands, Clarke, Harris, and Haddin will be gone, Voges and Marsh will probably be axed, while Johnson may also choose to go, Warner is all or nothing and Rogers is 35. I think it will be a very different looking side by the time the next ashes series comes around and i,m not to sure they have anybody decent enough to replace them.
