RE: County Cricket - Doddle - 20-09-2024 13:39 Lancs got it done, remarkably, but look to have too tall an order now. They seem to have drawn less games this year, which is good, but they've lost lots instead. Oh and well done to champs Surrey, I suppose. RE: County Cricket - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-09-2024 14:33 ^^ Mathematically Lancs can still stay up, but unlikely, they would require a maximum points win against Worcestershire & for Notts to gain 9 or less points, a Lancs win would give them a tie breaker advantage over Notts if the finish level. Yorkshire need 10 points for promotion, less than that if Middlesex fail to make maximum bonus points & a win. RE: County Cricket - Snooks - 20-09-2024 18:05 Fair play to Surrey. Three championshop titles in a row is a fine effort. Snooks says grudgingly ![]() RE: County Cricket - Boomerangutangangbang - 20-09-2024 18:42 Despite having a large catchment area, Surrey still hoover up all the top players from other counties, they are by far a richest county club, they should be winning it ever year. Still, a great way for Alec Stewart to sign off his time as director of cricket, I have a lot of respect for the man. Final round, still quite a bit to be decided who will take the final promotion place, who will be the 2nd County to get related along with Kent. Division 1 runners up with prize money at stake. Day 1 & sure enough the weather has put a spanner in the works. In Division 2 only Leicestershire v Derbyshire is yet to be called off with the other 3 fixtures all off for the day. In Division 2 Durham v Kent has been called off 7 Worcestershire v Lancashire is yet to start The Essex v Surrey match has managed 28.3 overs before rain has stopped play. Somerset v Hampshire & Nottinghamshire v Warwickshire are in play but have already lost overs. RE: County Cricket - Snooks - 26-09-2024 20:25 Bottom line: Shouldn't be playing championship cricket this late. The county championship should take priority over The Hundred but there's no way the money men and women will accept that ![]() RE: County Cricket - Boomerangutangangbang - 27-09-2024 13:02 Day 2 & just 2 matches in progress, Somerset v Hampshire & Glamorgan v Gloucestershire. Matches already off for the day include Durham v Kent, Worcestershire v Lancashire, Leicestershire v Derbyshire & Sussex v Middlesex. RE: County Cricket - SecretAgent - 27-09-2024 13:39 My praying to the rain gods in Sussex seem to be working so far RE: County Cricket - Snooks - 28-09-2024 11:02 Play everywhere except at Hove and at Leicester so far today. RE: County Cricket - Boomerangutangangbang - 28-09-2024 12:06 The 40 overs of play possible at Headingley yesterday was enough to see them secure 2 bowling bonus points as Northamptonshire closed on 117-6. With the time lost in the match Yorkshire should go on to secure a draw at least giving them a further 8 points which is the maximum they require to gain promotion. With Middlesex unable to make any headway in the match at Hove it is inconceivable that there's enough time left in that match for the positive result that they require to push Yorkshire out of the promotion place. It would require a miracle for Middlesex to gain maximum bonus points given the time remaining with no play before lunch at Hove. |
