Boris has been pushing his Omicron doom message so much that the French have stopped the British from entering there country. This supposes that we have large numbers with the virus but they obviously don't. bladewave

It is not supposed to affect haulage drivers but large queues have been gathering at Dover port.

Deja vu of it last year when there were loads of Continental lorry drivers who failed to get back home after France closed their borders because of the Delta variant.

Tbf, if it had been the other way round, people here would have been screaming for the border to be closed.

2 jabs is only thought to be 40% effective against Omicron.

About the same as the person next to you wearing a cloth mask.

Stay safe till you get that third jab Cool

There seems to be a loony bin culture when it comes to how to wear masks Rolleyes
The sheer number of ridiculous ways I have seen them 'worn' is beyond pure farce.

Some folk may as well wear em backwards like some tennis players wear caps backwards. If it wasn't so bloody stupid it would be quite amusing bladewave.

On South Park, they call it a ‘chin diaper’ … and people get irate if you’re not wearing your chin diaper!

Official figures show the UK has recorded 146 COVID-related deaths and 88,376 positive cases of the virus in the latest 24-hour period.
Joe Wicks is starting to limber up isn't he?

the figure you are quoting is not proven at all and in fact in the latest study to come out of SA published 2 days ago they found that 2 dose of pfizer is up to 70% effective against Omicron not the 90-95% against delta but still very good i think, and early data shows that a booster gets that back up to 90%,
its also worth pointing out that the figure you quote is about the most server of illness which will only happen in a very small % of people the same report says that the % of effectiveness at stopping people being hospitalised is likely to be much higher,
for me it again shows that we should be putting our trust in getting jabbed and not in covering faces with a bit of cotton,

thats going to go up every day now latest models i see seam to be showing a peak in the 2nd week of Jan,
they seam to be showing a very steep up and down curve this time as its so transmittable it will effect many quickly but in doing so will run out of people to effect in quick time as well

Billy Gardner and Marm Kilpatrick from the University of California, Santa Cruz developed computer models incorporating data on COVID-19 vaccines' efficacy against earlier variants and initial data on the Pfizer (PFE.N)/BioNTech vaccine against Omicron. Their models suggest that early after two doses of an mRNA vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna (MRNA.O), efficacy against symptomatic infection from Omicron is only about 30%, down from about 87% versus Delta, they reported on Sunday on medRxiv ahead of peer review. Protection against symptomatic infection is "essentially eliminated" for individuals vaccinated more than four months earlier. Boosters restore protection to about 48%, "which is similar to the protection of individuals with waned immunity against the Delta variant (43%)," Kilpatrick said.

"Importantly, protection against severe disease is much higher" for all categories: recently vaccinated, waned, or boosted. "We estimated that protection against severe disease was 86% for recent mRNA vaccination against Omicron, 67% for waned immunity, and 91% following 3rd dose boosters," Kilpatrick said. "There are still no direct estimates of vaccine effectiveness for severe disease from any country yet, so our estimates cannot be compared to direct estimates yet."

If you had your vaccine 4 months ago you have zero protection against Omricon ?????

No you have no protection of not getting omicron but a very good chance you will survive it
