Before kickoff i would have gratefully accepted a point at Stamford Bridge but after that decision it almost seems like a defeatSad

Don't blame us. No Chelsea player appealed for a penalty. We were playing on. I've watched it back several times and no Chelsea player even looks at the referee let alone appeals.

Even as a Wolves fan I accept that should never have been a penalty Rolleyes.
Marriner has always been an appalling ref imo though so I am not surprised.
Mourinho insistent it was a penalty though.
Utter nonsense.

RE: Chelsea FC - harri - 10-11-2013 01:48

Marriner had a bet on chelsea to stay unbeaten at home in the premier league under mourinho for another few more home matches. it is one of those soft decisions, any team would have taken that at 95th minute of a game. One player who will never get a penalty in extra time is ashley "diving little shit" Young one of the worse divers of all time

I think Marriner needs to be hauled before the Premier League disciplinary committee and explain how he came to make that decision. As far as I am concerned I think he was taking lesson from the abovementioned "diving little shit". If he was supposed to be one of the best referees in Europe, that decision clearly was a shocking decision from a referee of his calibre.

Never mind. If you watch the second goal for West Brom carefully, you'll see that Yacob definitely fouls Ivonovic to give West Brom possession which leads to the goal being scored. Yacob has his arm across Ivanovic's back and is clearly holding him. So on the day both sides scored after an incorrect refereeing decision. The penalty wasn't a penalty but the referee was effectively evening things up. Let's call the 2-2 draw a fair result.

The Chelsea-WBA match saw 10 yellow cards and was the first Premier League match with 10 yellows shown for over 3 years (since Wolves-Newcastle in Aug 2010).

Chelsea today signed Nemanja Matic from Benfica. The Serbian midfielder is 25 years old and will wear the number 21 shirt. Last season he was named Primeira Liga Player of the Year in Portugal and has 9 caps for Serbia.

Ryan Bertrand has been loaned to Aston Villa. He has played 57 times for Chelsea and has 1 England cap, but will now be on loan until the end of the season.
