RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - winsaw - 27-12-2021 15:25 i honestly dont see any restrictions coming in england any time soon, and based on the early london data thats correct, london is the uk hot spot for the new strain and for the last 7 days the number of people getting it has been dropping and there has been no big jump in the numbers going into hospital, if that continues for the next couple of weeks then we can say that we are in a good place its just to early to call at the moment and not a time to be putting in restrictions when they are not needed for sure, RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - winsaw - 27-12-2021 15:27 from today how long you have to Self-isolation for positive COVID-19 has changed On days 6 & 7 of self-isolation, you should take a rapid lateral flow test 24 hours apart. If both tests are negative, you can stop self-isolating. The first test must be taken no earlier than day 6. so that should hopefully get more people back to work sooner and stop a lot of the issues in front line services RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - winsaw - 27-12-2021 15:43 lot of news from SA today about Omicron, Optimism is growing rapidly in South Africa as the wave of Covid infections caused by the Omicron variant seems to subside as quickly as it came, Infections are down and multiple Covid experts have confirmed the Omicron wave is subsiding quickly, Ridhwaan Suliman, a senior researcher at the South African Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), said the country has “surpassed the peak of the Omicron wave now, Although test positivity remains “still high at 29.8 per cent,” the fact the figure is decreasing confirms “the decline in infections is real and not a testing artifact.” Other Covid researchers are saying the same. Michelle Groome, of the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), told reporters that “we have surpassed the peak of infections.” Figures from the NCID showed that new cases dropped by 23 per cent over the past seven days, following a 14 per cent decrease a week earlier. Moreover, the death figure is “substantially lower” than that experienced with the Delta variant, South African vaccinologist Shabir Mahdi the Covid expert who has been leading the country’s pandemic response, Salim Abdool Karim – South Afrcia’s most important infectious-diseases scientist – said the peak of the Omicron wave has passed and he is convinced “every other country, or almost every other, will follow the same trajectory.” to me that all looks very good news, so far everything to come out of SA has been correct so with luck we are 4 weeks behind them, RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - HannahsPet - 27-12-2021 16:57 No restrictions for New Years Eve thank boris the party king when you catch Covid RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Tumble_Drier - 27-12-2021 17:43 ^Or you could use your own common sense and avoid crowded pubs etc at New Year Assuming that you actually have any common sense of course. RE: Coronavirus - is enough being done to contain it? - Regenerated - 28-12-2021 14:08 Just had a text telling me to get the booster, even though I had it two weeks ago. As for New Years Eve, I just don't know. I don't know how many people are going, I know some friends are frightened by the crowds. I'm kind of thinking I've got used to staying in at events and the gatherings can be awkward. |
