You don't need a premium account (that costs money). You just need a Collectors Account.

Go to http://www.rapidshare.com/

-From their home page, click on "browse" and pick a file, any file, to upload.
-A large "upload" button appears. Click it to upload your file.
-Takes you to a page where it asks you who you want to e-mail the links to
-If you scroll down on this same page, there will be an option that says "create collector's account"
-Click the "+" sign next to "create collector's account"
-Create your collector's account

what's the difference between these type of accounts skateguy apart from the obvious one of cost.

With a premium account (c. £5 per month) you can download at speeds up to 1600kbps or more and upto god knows how many gig per day, simultaneous downloads, and use a download manager - meaning you can pause and resume downloads.

Without a premium account (i.e. free user or collectors account holder) you have the waiting time before link appears, one download per hour or so, one download at a time and its generally a bloody pain and very slow download speed.

I have a premium account so don't need a collectors account but my understanding is that if you want to upload something to RS and enable more than 10 downloads you need such an account - but you don't get any of the downloading benefits that the premium account offers.
