RE: Liverpool FC - Regenerated - 28-08-2013 00:16

I wouldn't read too much in to the cup games tonight. There can often be some weird stuff going on in the League Cup - lower league teams raise their games. GNP's right, on another day the Reds would have won that game by 10. Fair play to Notts County - they gave it a go and Liverpool did what they had to do to get the job done. I doubt this game will have any bearing on the United game on Sunday.

I have to say - I wasn't impressed by Man Utd against Chelsea. Thought it was a pretty tame match to be honest. But there's definitely weaknesses in United's defence that Liverpool can exploit. Sturridge and Coutinho - you can see they're a handful for anyone and Mignolet's a far better keeper than De Gea. I'm backing Liverpool for a win on Sunday. There's something about them this season - like I said earlier in the thread - its been a steady improvement and they mean business. The board and the manager have shown they're not letting things slow them down this time. Should be an excellent game on Sunday.

RE: Liverpool FC - Fernandez Esperenda - 28-08-2013 00:57

Dont get me wrong I am happy we won but I am concerned about many things I am seeing, we are still not taking our chances and a regular thing I have noticed is we are becoming sloppy in second half of games... we needlessly give the ball away and try and force thing when we have no need to, all we need to do is keep the ball and be patient until something open up, we are forcing things for no reason and bringing pressure onto ourselves.

We lack strength in midfield desperatley, somebody like wanyama, paulinho, de jong type player we can bring on too see out a game.

We drop far too deep for no reason, is this because carra is not there now? I don't remember us look like that at the back for a long time how we did against villa and tonight.

Really hope we get some more experienced signings made before the window closes.

What you concerned about Fernandez?

Toure's been outstanding since he's came in, solid as a rock. We've had two shut outs from two so far in the league, can't see any problems there. Obviously with Kolo's injury we'll need to get somebody in but we've looked solid.

Lucas is a beast in midfield, he's back to his best looking sharp and strong again. Not many around in his position better than him at putting out fires and protecting the back four. Wanyama? De Jong? Paulinho? I wouldn't swap Lucas for any of them.

Agree that we've not looked the same team in the second half of matches so far but we've started all 3 games brilliantly for me, playing some top stuff. We need to start putting teams to the sword though and we will soon enough, starting Sunday. Wink We create too many chances not to.

Justice For Hillsborough album has top the charts in ScandanaviaHillsborough campaigners have applauded the creators of a CD which reached the top of the Scandinavian album charts. The compilation of 14 songs – called Justice For Hillsborough – was heralded as a “lovely gesture” after it sold tens of thousands of copies in Norway. The Hillsborough Family Support Group and Hillsborough Justice Campaign will both share the proceeds from sales of the CD.Margaret Aspinall, HFSG chairwoman, said: “I’m very pleased that they did this to raise funds for the HFSG. It’s a lovely, lovely gesture and I’m sure that the families in our group are delighted. We are so grateful for all the support that we have had over the years and we are still getting it now. It’s lovely to think that people are still thinking of ways of helping the families in our fight for justice.”The CD was created by musician and Kop fan Jostein Ansnes with the help of Liverpool’s matchday announcer George Sephton, The Farm singer Peter Hooton and Kop season ticket holder Cliff Whittingham. They picked tunes that are associated with Liverpool FC and they include He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, The Killing Moon, Liverpool (So Good they named it once), All Together Now and The Fields of Anfield Road. It also features The Specials’ Enjoy Yoursel’, Cilla Black’s Anyone Who Had a Heart and two versions of You’ll Never Walk Alone.Mr Sephton said: “I picked The Ring of Fire which has been a  Kop favourite for over 10 years and 96 Lives by Aughton singer Christian Slawinski was appropriate.”Mr Whittingham chose Chris Rea’s I Don’t Know What It Is But I Love It because ex-LFC defender Phil Neil sang it before the 1984 European Cup final. He also picked In My Life – which is read by Bruce Grobbelaar – for  its associations with the 2005 European Cup win.Jostein said: “It’s an honour to help the groups.”HJC spokeswoman Sheila Coleman said: “The support we’ve always received from our Scandinavian friends has been amazing.”

News/Gossip

Liverpool have tabled a £19.7m bid for Dynamo Kyiv striker Andriy Yarmolenko according to reports from Ukrainian newspaper Gazeta.

The 23-year-old is highly-rated in the Ukrainian league and was described by Andriy Shevchenko as a ‘great player.’ He has featured 126 times for Kyiv scoring 44 goals and is a versatile through the middle or as an attacking wide man. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has spoken of his desire to further strengthen his side before the window shuts in four days and see’s Yarmolenko, who has been capped 32 times for his country, as a perfect acquisition to his squad. They may have to face a battle with Italian giants AC Milan after Shevchenko recommended the player to his former club. If the deal does come off, it will cast doubts on the future of Luis Suarez whose future continues to be in limbo following his intentions to leave Anfield before making a dramatic U-turn and stating his desire to stay with the club.
