The exceptional MitchellWink is here with another post event run down.
A bad night for Ross, it was goin well till then. It looked like his game plan was to stay busy with jabs, combos & a few leg kicks & try for the decision win knowing Miller had a good reach & sub game, you'd think being a top striker with good movement he wouldn't get caught stepping straight back rather that sidestepping, still early days with more to come. A great win for Cole Miller though i think he's a top fighter & i like what he said to Joe about the wrestlers & BBJ fighter only using those skills.. MMA boys MMA!!!

Marquardt v Palhares was a little strange, it started slow then Palhares got things goin with a shoot but that was a little silly to do that, having said that top marks to him for accepting he fucked up & not bitching, when he improves his striking he'll be a big force.

Charles Oliveira i stand corrected, you sir are gonna be a top fighter. 20 years old.. 20 wow, & not just a BBJ fighter but good on his feet as well.
14-0 6 KO's & 7 subs this kid is one to watch.. Literally!!!

Brock-tober, they must of thought long & hard about that oneRolleyes
Yo HEX!T chill ya beans with watchin TUF on the net, i'm watchin it on Sky Sports on Tuesday, NO SPOILERS thank you pleaseRolleyes

Thats a good move for Daley, Strikeforce is a decent promotion in the US, their welterweight division isn't the best so if probably when Nick Diaz retains his belt in October i think he may face Daley in his next fight some time in December/January.
Whether Daley or Diaz form that matter can make it back to the UFC i'm not sure, i also think Daley needs to round his game a little.

Just saw that Matt Hughes will Fight BJ Penn at UFC 123 in Detroit on 20th Nov.
This should be the decider after Penn beat Hughes in Round 1 back in 04.
Hughes won the rematch in 06 by ko in the 3rd.
So im kinda looking forward to this one Smile Im fed up seeing Penn fight Edgar and losing lol hopefully we'll get a proper fight on the same card as Rampage vs Machida Smile

RE: UFC - mitchell - 19-09-2010 01:20

I don't really understand this one, after 3 successive wins i thought Hughes maybe talked about with regards to a match with the winner of GSP V Koscheck. Fighting BJ is a step back, i don't care for Hughes either way but i thought he had his career back on track & aiming for the top again, if he wins then he'll probably get a title shot but i don't see the appeal in this fight.
Hughes wins he's beat a BJ that's already fallen from grace & if BJ wins then what weight division does he stay in, start from scratch in the welterweight or try again... again to beat Edgar, either way who ever loses has a long way to climb.

Chael Sonnen Fails UFC 117 Drug Test

Quote:CSAC: Sonnen Positive for PEDs at UFC 117

According to California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer George Dodd, Chael Sonnen has been notified that he failed post-fight drug screening following his loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 117, which was held Aug. 7 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif.

“[Sonnen] received his notice yesterday,” Dodd told Sherdog.com shortly after the Shane Mosley-Sergio Mora boxing match ended Saturday night in Los Angeles.

In a conversation the day before, Dodd declined to comment on the situation, other than answering that all fighters from UFC 117 had passed drugs-of-abuse scans, but that the commission was still waiting on performance-enhancing drug screens from the event.

Dodd did not state which banned substance was red-flagged, but with a clean drugs-of-abuse scan it is clear the positive test was for a performance-enhancing substance.

The last major UFC banned-substance case in the state centered on UFC 73’s lightweight title match, which saw both competitors -- Sean Sherk and Hermes Franca -- test positive for PEDs. Both fighters were suspended for one year and fined, though Sherk appealed and had his suspension shortened to six months.

Sonnen is staring at a long layoff if he elects not to appeal or is denied. He was scheduled to rematch Silva Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, but that fight may be delayed or scrapped in light of these allegations.

Text messages to Sonnen went unreturned.

His manager Matt Lindland told Sherdog.com that he was cornering a fighter on the East Coast and had no knowledge of the positive test results.

Silva’s manager Ed Soares, who engaged in some heated exchanges via the media in the build up to the fight, was stunned when asked for his reaction.

“If it’s true, I feel really bad for him,” said Soares. “I know he did it to himself but it is really sad, he put on such a great performance that night. It is just a shame it will be tarnished.”

Fuck. I hoped my first post in this thread wouldn't be on the subject of drugs...

RE: UFC - HEX!T - 19-09-2010 20:54

i hope its just a miss diagnosis. it was 1 of the better fights of that night. and yeah!, a real shame if true.

RE: UFC - mitchell - 19-09-2010 21:27

This will be interesting to hear Sonnen's response to this as he's a pretty good talker. Considering he talked all that shit before the fight it would be one hell of a fuck up to take a drug of any kind knowing he was gonna be tested, he obviously thought he was gonna win but how did he expect to get away with the drug test, that is if he actually took any???

RE: UFC - groundnpound - 19-09-2010 23:59

Welcome to the UFC thread TDK!Gr8 to have u here Smile
That's quite a 1st post!SCANDAL! Wink
Lets hope it's not true and it all gets ironed out.
Thought the Sonnen/Silva fight was brilliant and Chael done himself proud so hope he hasn't wasted it!
Can't believe he would be so stupid after the build up he gave the fight??
