RE: Cricket Banter - mickster - 14-02-2014 01:57 Aaron Finch has been signed to Yorkshire as THE SPECIALIST T20batsman .Kane Williamson is due to tour for NZ and is primarily a batsman for the longer version of the game .Basically Williamson is a blocker and Finch is a blaster . Yorkshire signed Williamson for the tail end of last season and immediately offered him a contract for the 2014 season .The T20competition is split into 2 segments this season and probably wasn't concieved when Williamson signed up for Yorkshire . Looking forward to seeing Finch play for the Tykes .He could be a massive crowd puller ,judging by his last visit to England . RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 14-02-2014 11:57 I didn't actually mean Finch was a direct replacement for Williamson, but it has come about because Yorkshire didn't want to be without an overseas pro.Finch will offer good support to Gale in the field as he has had captaincy experience in the Big Bash. The timing is perfect for the club with most of our England players being available from the start,& Williamson's absence has freed up money that may well have not been available, other clubs were after Finch & offering more money, the Lehmann/Gillespie link played a big part in this signing. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 14-02-2014 12:53 New Zealand struggled to 192 all out in the 2nd Test at Wellington after being put in on a green pitch.Ishant Sharma 6-51 & Mohammed Shami 4-70 exploited the conditions well.Williamson top scored with 47 from 100 balls holding the innings together,he was the 7th wicket to fall after which Neeshan & Southee played some shots to get the total close to 200. By the time India batted the pitch was starting to lose some of it's green tinge & they closed day 1 on 100-2,with the aggressive Dhawan on 71 not out from 87 balls with 10 4's & one 6. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 14-02-2014 12:56 South Africa were bowled out for 206 with Mitchell Johnson taking 7-68.A B de Villiers top scored with 91. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 14-02-2014 18:33 Australia lead South Africa by 479 runs, closing on day 3 at 288-3 with Warner 115 & Doohan 89 adding 205 for the 2nd wicket. South Africa 65-3 Lunch RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 15-02-2014 12:02 India led New Zealand by 246 on 1st innings after making 438.Dhawan went for 98 missing out on consecutive hundreds.Rahane recorded his maiden ton & Dhoni blasted 68. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 16-02-2014 07:51 Day 4 Close - New Zealand lead India by 6 runs with 5 wickets remaining. New Zealand 252-4 McCullum 114 not out Watling 52 not out Zaheer Khan 3-60 After being 94-5 & in danger of an innings defeat the 5th wicket pair have added 158 unbroken & take the match into the final day. RE: Cricket Banter - Boomerangutangangbang - 16-02-2014 08:05 Australia beat South Africa by 281 runs after being bowled out for 200 in their 2nd innings.Mitchell Johnson taking 5-59,named as Man of the Match with figures on 12-127.A B de Villiers top scored with 48. Hostile & accurate fast bowling from Johnson,Amla came in 1st wicket down & he was greeted by a ball that smashed into his grill.McLaren took also took a blow to his ear which required treatment. Johnson has taken 49 wickets in his last 6 Test Matches with 4 Man of the Match Awards. RE: Cricket Banter - Jack Bishop - 17-02-2014 09:58 ^ Yes I think a few may now need to re-asses how "ordinary a side" this Aussie team are. |
