(24-02-2021 15:22 )Doddle Wrote:  because this Friday sees them starting a year-by-year tribute to music from the 80s (don't get your hopes up for Iron Maiden or Def Leppard though Wink ) Mick Wall has contributed, that's about as rock as it gets.
Mick cropped up for 20 secs in last night's series-closer on 1989 to talk on Guns N Roses.

I really enjoyed this series, for the breadth of the contributors, not just "I was a hit in 1985 thank you and goodnight" (though spotting Paul Gambaccini filmed in front of 3 different backdrops, in the same show - or the acts showing their awards in the background) Francis Rossi may be ambivalent sometimes but he's happy to own up to buying Like A Prayer and It's A Sin.

A new series, on the 1990s, starts next Friday.

Great to see Finland entering Eurovision with another rock band. Only country to do so ever since Lordi won for them

TOTP wrapped up 1990 last week, and started on 1991 this week, allowing for the heady larks of Iron Maiden at #1 for a fortnight. Jakki even name-checked Bruce's book Lord Iffy Boatrace. Anthrax and Pop Will Eat Itself cropped up too.

Whether they're just not bothering with a particular documentary on 1991, as with the previous 13 years, I dunno yet. Be a shame to stop now, and 1991 was a big year for the show.
