He finished in the grand manner with a birdie to seal glory.

The PGA tour season really starts to kick into gear from tomorrow evening onwards.
The Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill this week followed swiftly by The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass.
Then in April comes the first of the majors in the US Masters at the revered Augusta National.
Great time to be a golf fan

After a lengthy storm induced weather delay at TPC Sawgrass the final round of the Players Championship is to resume shortly with the leading contenders now all playing the back nine. Rory McIlroy leads by one shot having trailed by 4 at the start of the round. JJ Spaun is the nearest challenger followed by Tom Hoge, Akshay Bhatia and Danny Walker.

Rory McIlroy is the champion after comfortably winning a three hole playoff against American JJ Spaun at TPC Sawgrass. His second Players Championship title.

An intriguing final round looms at the Valspar Championship taking place at the always challenging Copperhead course in Florida.
Viktor Hovland holds a joint lead with American Jacob Bridgeman and Nicolas Echavarria of Colombia at -7.
Shane Lowry is two shots back at -5.

Viktor Hovland held firm to ultimately claim a much needed PGA tour title victory by one shot from home favourite Justin Thomas. The lead ebbed and flowed between various players before a late swing in fortunes won the day for Hovland.

Waffle this week with Scheffler and McIlroy battling it out, but in the end some other dude won, though Scottie and Rory did finish Top 10.

Last chance for some players this week to get an invitation to The Masters falls at The Valero Texas Open. The Oaks course in San Antonio plays host. American Keith Mitchell has made a storming start with a -8 round of 64.
Tommy Fleetwood has made a solid start with a round of 68 to sit at -4.

From the Augusta National to the narrow fairways and small greens of Harbour Town Golf Links for the RBC Heritage. Scottie Scheffler off to a roaring start in his title defence with a round of 64 to lie at -7. Matched by Russell Henley but toppled by an inspired Justin Thomas who shot a -10 round of 61 to equal the course record.
Could Thomas finally be on a path to another PGA tour title?
